Huge American Airline Promotion for Flights to Europe

American Airline just announced a pretty good promotion today for roundtrip flights from the US or Canada to Europe. Unfortunately, this is limited to those flying on a paid First Class, Business Class, and select Economy Class (fares include: Y, B, and H). The good thing, however, is that both Iberia and British Airways flights are included, so you have three options to earn these bonus points.

a sign with text and a person in the backgroundWhat bonus will I receive?

  • First roundtrip = 15,000 bonus miles
  • Second roundtrip flight = 35,000 bonus miles
  • Third roundtrip = 50,000 bonus miles
  • Every other roundtrip flight thereafter = 50,000 bonus miles

There is no limit to the number of bonus miles you can earn, which is amazing! For those frequent transatlantic business travelers, you can earn an additional 100,000 bonus miles just after 3 roundtrip flights. For those non-business travelers, this promotion probably won’t apply to you as I assume you aren’t purchasing business class tickets or really expensive economy tickets – but if you are, enjoy those bonus points!

You must first register for this promotion (code: AAEUR). All travel must be completed by January 31, 2013.

Eligible fares include:
Includes First Class and Business Class fares booked in F, A, J, R, D or I; Economy Class fares booked in Y, B or H on American Airlines operated flights; First Class or Club World fares booked in F, A, J, R, C, D or I; World Traveller Plus or full‑fare World Traveller booked in W, E, T, Y, B or H on British Airways operated flights; Business Class fares booked in J, C, D, R or I; Economy Class fares booked in Y on Iberia operated flights.

Why in the title do you call the promotion “Huge” but in the first sentence you say it is “pretty good”? Which is it?

@mark – Amazing promotion for those who are flying first, business, or expensive economy class tickets. Pretty good is because unfortunately it doesn’t apply to all fare classes.

The offer was more amazing last year when the bonus was 25,000 miles for the first trip; 35,000 for the second; and 45,000 for each subsequent trip.

At least, it was better for the first flight. I’ve only once flown transatlantic once. In that one flight last year, I took advantage of the Thanksgiving fare, used my AAdvantage Citi card, received the 25K bonus, and completed the AA Platinum challenge to receive over 110,000 miles. Not bad at all.
