IHG just launched their new IHG Accelerate promotion where you can earn bonus points between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019. Similar to all other IHG Accelerate promotions, you’ll receive a personalized offer and the number of points you earn depends on how many “tasks” you complete. Some members will receive better promotions than others. To see your offer, you’ll need to register here.

My IHG Accelerate Promotion

My personal offer is just okay. If I complete 5 nights I’ll earn 40,500 bonus points. If I complete two 2-night stays at two different brands (with one of them being at an IHG) over the weekend, that will check off the the first and third tasks and get me half way there to the second task. Then if I complete one more night at an IHG property using Points + Cash, that should check off the second and forth task.

Keep in mind, “tasks†can overlap, so one stay might check check multiple boxes.

I won’t be taking advantage of this offer…

IHG properties are typically not my property of choice for paid stays, although there are times when the IHG Accelerate promotion is absolutely mattress run worthy. My promotion is not. For work travel, my husband and I are focusing on Hyatt this year since I absolutely love Hyatt Globalist status. Typically, the IHG promotions are best for those who travel for work, or those that have a really good offer.

If you are not tied to a certain chain or if IHG is your preference, this could be a great opportunity to earn extra points on stays you were going to complete anyways. And if you find yourself a night shy of earning a ton of points, you might see if finding a cheap mattress run stay is worth it for your personalized promotion.

What is your targeted offer? Will you be taking advantage?
