Back in December, IHG announced their new promotion which just started a few days ago on January 1, 2015 and will run through April 30, 2015. This promotion is not nearly as good as their recent “Into the Nights” promotion that just expired on December 31, 2014. Hopefully though the tracking system for the new promotion is much better than what they currently has! Related post: “Can IHG be trusted?” and “Thanks A Lot IHG”
The “Set Your Sights” promotion ultimately allows you to earn up to 50,000 points after completing targeted tasks. You can see your tasks after entering your IHG number and password here. Overall, this promotion is better for those who already have planned IHG stays during this time frame. It is not as mattress run worthy as the past promotion.
My promotion seems to be one of the better ones, but I still will not be taking advantage of it.
I can essentially complete all 5 tasks by downloading the IHG app and completing three nights. Out of my three nights, two of them have to be a two-night weekend stay and at a Holiday Inn (2 nights). You can complete multiple tasks with one stay. So even if I can find a $75 a night room (including tax) that will cost about $225. While that is still slightly better than the method to always purchase points at .7 cents and the recent opportunity to purchase points at .58 cents per point, I would only partake in the mattress run if I had a definite stay where it would be worthwhile.
My mom’s account was probably targeted for the worse promotion possible. It requires a stay in Las Vegas, a stay in a Vacation Club Resort (which are limited), and a stay at an EVEN hotel (which there are only two of in the US!). It is one of those promotions that is close to impossible to complete!
Overall, a decent promotion for some, but only one that I would recommend taking advantage of if you are staying at IHG hotels anyways.
What’s your targeted off and will you be participating in this promotion?

Another fail!
“Looks like you’re a miles earner. Go to DoubleUpMiles.ihg.com starting this January to participate in our double miles promotion.”
But they didn’t bother to set up the domain…
Does anyone have a corporate contact or a better way to get customer service to actually do the job of customer service? IHG is a joke with both recent promotions its been like pulling teeth to get things done. #IHG_Epic_Fail
