JetBlue is making expanding its route map and while they are adding a ton of more flights, this will definitely help the Boston, Fort Lauderdale, and New York markets the most.
Starting in 2019 you’ll see the following new routes:
- Nonstop flights from Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) to Guayaquil, Ecuador (GYE)
- Nonstop flights from Boston (BOS) to Rochester, NY (ROC)
- Nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Phoenix (PHX)
- Nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to St. Maarten (SXM)
- Nonstop flights from Providence, RI (PVD) to West Palm Beach (PBI)
They are also increasing the frequency of service on more than two dozen routes from New York JFK, Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, Hartford, and Westchester. I am personally excited to see more nonstop flights from Boston to the Caribbean!
Unfortunately though, there are some routes being killed, which include:
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Detroit (DTW)
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Baltimore (BWI)
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Long Beach (LGB)
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Pittsburgh (PIT)
- San Juan (SJU) and Santiago (STI)
- Orlando (MCO) and Baltimore (BWI)
On January 8, 2019, JetBlue will also no longer serve Washington-Dulles (IAD), Daytona Beach (DAB) and St. Croix (STX). Fortunately for those in the Northern Virginia area, you can still find plenty of JetBlue flights out of DCA.
Overall, I am excited about this new route map as it has a positive impact while living in the Boston area. JetBlue has become one of my go-to airlines due to its nonstop service out of Boston and I am looking forward to see its continued enhancements!

So, JetBlue is becoming even more of a New York/Boston airline? Because beyond those markets and Florida, they do not have a meaningful presence. Not sure how long such a model can be successful when you’re depending on such a limited number of customer markets.
