JetBlue will be extended its flight schedule today at 12pm ET. Up until now you could only book flights through February 12, 2020, but this schedule extension will allow you to book flights through April 28, 2020. This is big as it opens up the entire Spring Break vacation schedule. For families looking to get away next Feb., March., or April (depending on when your schools break falls), booking today could possibly get you the best deal on airfare.
Book Now, Think Later
With JetBlue, you have a full 24 hours to cancel after a flight is booked for a full refund. If you are not 100% sure of your travel plans just yet, you can take the “book now and figure it out later” approach. Also, if your plans are flexible, use the JetBlue Fare Finder which will give you the cheapest price for every day of the month.
Or, if you are a JetBlue Mosaic member, you can book now and cancel for free at any point up until the flight departs. If you book with points, the points will go directly back into the account they came from. If you book a paid fare, you’ll receive a credit back into your JetBlue TrueBlue travel bank. Taxes paid on top of the points will also go back into your travel bank. This is a huge perk for Mosaic number as you can book more freely and know you can cancel with no fee.
Fortunately, JetBlue status is not too difficult to earn:
- Flying with JetBlue: If you are a frequent flyer, you can earn Mosaic status by flying 30 segments plus 12,000 base points ($4,000 in JetBlue spend) or just earning 15,000 base points ($5,000 in JetBlue spend). You must earn these points in a single calendar year.
- Credit Card Spend: If you have the JetBlue Credit Card, you can earn Mosaic status by spending $50,000 on their co-branded credit card within the calendar year.
Due to my husbands work travel, we are able to earn JetBlue Mosaic status year after year which has saved us a ton of money in points. One of the other benefits is if the flight you book now goes down in price, you can call JetBlue and have them re-price your ticket and you’ll get the difference back. This is for both point and paid reservations.
