About a year ago, Marriott introduced a brand new credit card — the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card. Right now, this card is offering a limited time 100,000 point bonus offer that matches the highest offer we’ve seen when the card was initially announced. This is an increased offer than the norm and a great way to build up your Marriott Bonvoy point balance. Unfortunately though, all good things must come to an end as this offer is only available through March 4, 2020. If you are thinking about applying for the card, you’ll want to do so today.
Card benefits
Although the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card comes with a $95 annual fee, the yearly card benefits more than make up for this fee. This particular card will give you a free Marriott night to use annually on every account anniversary date (capped at a hotel costing 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points). For me personally, I have always been able to get a great value out of my Marriott free night certificates making the annual fee well worth it.
For example, you can use the free night certificate at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas during ski season. Or if the Caribbean is on your radar, you can stay at the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino. The St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino is another opportunity right on the beach in the Dominican. In Disneyland you have the SpringHill Suites at Anaheim Resort/Convention Center which is walking distance to the park and standard rooms include two queen beds and a pull out sofa — perfect for families. Essentially, you can stay at all of these properties with the free night certificate that is ultimately only costing you $95 for the night. Chances of you being able to stay at those properties or even any surrounding accommodations for that low is slim to none.
Another benefit of the card is that you’ll receive complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status. I personally do not put much stock into this particular status, but of course having some status is better than nothing when walking in the front door of a Marriott property. Now, if you are able to spend $35,000 a year on the card, that will bump you up to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status.
My Recommendation
Out of the three Marriott credit cards, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card is definitely my recommended card. It provides a great welcome offer with a lower annual fee. And to top it off, it also comes with the free night certificate.
Just keep in mind that this card does fall under Chase’s “5/24” rule. This means if you’ve been approved for 5 or more credit cards (typically just personal cards) in the past 24 months, Chase will automatically deny you. And lastly, keep in mind the restrictions that were put into place last year where Marriott will not approve you based on other cards you’ve applied for in the past or currently have in your wallet.
