Just yesterday, Southwest extended their reservation calendar which means you can now book flights through March 6, 2019. If you are looking to travel during peak times, I always recommend booking flights on Southwest as early as they are announced. Especially since if they end up going down in price you can get your money (or points back), but typically flights are as cheap as you’ll see them now for those peak times, i.e., Presidents Day weekend.
Per the Southwest blog, not only did they extend the reservation schedule, they also added some new and seasonal routes. They added a ton of new routes from Dallas, added a Newark to Nashville route, and opened up their seasonal non-stop service to Ft. Myers from many destinations. Unfortunately, a few routes were discontinued too (although might just be for the winter and could possibly return next Spring/Summer.
No Hawaii service has been added yet! I know many folks are anxiously awaiting the announcement to be able to book flights to Hawaii, but no luck yet! I was really hoping that they would have been added with this schedule extension, but I will still have to sit tight!
I am personally mostly excited for the seasonal Providence to Ft. Myers route and which they offered it in November and December too, but something is better then nothing. Hopefully these new routes (and not the discontinued routes) will help you travel Southwest more!
