InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is making some massive changes to their award chart, and it definitely is not in our favor! 499 properties will soon require more points to redeem for a free night, while only 192 properties will require less points. Not only that, currently no hotel requires more then 60,000 points for a free night hotel, but that is now going up to 70,000 points!
IHG has one of the largest footprints with over 5,000+ properties, so having 700 properties changing is not as significant as it appears. Although there are some popular properties going up in points.
There hasn’t been an exact date put in place on when these changes will take place, so if you are looking to book a hotel that is going up in price, I’d definitely book now to lock in the current price.
Thanks to The Gate for sharing this change!
