Memorial Day Deals: Free Food and Activities for Active Military and Vets

Whether you are spending your day hitting the beach or BBQing with friends, there are many money saving deals for those who have served. As a thank you, many merchants are offering Memorial Day deals where active military members and veterans can receive discounted or free meals and activities throughout the United States. And many are even extending the promotions to family members as well.

Here is a list of many of the Memorial Day deals I’ve come across, but feel free add more below in the comments section.

Free Meals

Many chain restaurants are offering discounted or free meals, but I suggest calling your local restaurant to see if they are participating.

Fogo de Chão: Military veterans and active duty personnel receive 50% off their meal as well as 10% off the meal of three guests.

Hooters: Current and former U.S. military members who purchase a drink receive a complimentary meal from a special Memorial Day menu. Every other day of the year, you can receive a 10% veterans discount and on Tuesdays you can receive a 20% discount.

Logan’s Roadhouse: Active duty military members and veterans receive a free meal between 6 and 6pm from the “$9.49 American Roadhouse Meals†menu. This promotion is not available in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Augusta, Georgia.

Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub: Veterans and active duty military receive a free entrée from the “9 Real Size Entrées for $9.99 Menu†when purchasing another menu item.

Outback Steakhouse: Servicemen and women, police officers, firefighters, first responders and military personnel and their immediate family members receive 20% off their meal. Every other day of the year, you can receive 10% off your meal.

Texas de Brazil: Through May 29th, receive 50% off lunch or dinner. You can also bring up to eight guests to dine with you and they’ll receive 20% off their meal.

Free Activities

Blue Star Museums: Active-duty military families can visit 2,000+ museums within the United States for free. This takes place during the summer between May 18 and Sept. 2, 2019

Blue Star Theater: Military personnel (and their families) and veterans receive discounted or free movie tickets at 167 theaters across the United States. This is an ongoing offer.

Birmingham Zoo: Veterans, active and retired military, and their dependents receive free admission.

California’s Great America: Active and retired military members receive free theme park admission. Up to six discounted tickets can be purchased for friends and family members at $24 a piece.

Cedar Point: Active, retired or honorably discharged military members receive free admission to both Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores Waterpark. You can also take advantage of this promotion July 4-7 and every Monday during the summer (May 13 through Sept. 2). During these dates, you can purchase up six discounted tickets for immediate family members.

Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens: All active and retired military members receive free admission on three holidays throughout the year — Memorial Day, July 4th and Veteran’s Day. Purchase up to six half-price tickets for immediate family members.

Colonial Williamsburg: Veterans, active-duty military and up to three direct dependents receive free admission.

Crayola Experience: Active, retired and veteran military members receive free admission during the entire month of May. Immediate family members receive 25% off.

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom: Active military, retired military, National Guard, veterans with honorable or medical discharge and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps will receive free admission. If you are not able to make it today, they are also offering free admission next weekend between June 1-4. Up to six discounted tickets can be purchased for immediate family members for $29.

Edaville Railroad, Thomas Land: Military, police, fire rescue, veterans or retired service persons receive free admission. Purchase discounted tickets for family members as well — $20 per person and kids under 2 are free. Their “Hero appreciation” days make a frequent appearance throughout the summer, so you can receive free admission at other times as well.

Kings Dominion: Active and retired military members receive free admission. Purchase additional tickets for $29 per person.

Legoland: Both the Florida an California theme park offer discounts every day throughout the year. In Florida, active duty service members receive free admission where veterans and military families can purchase discounted tickets. In California, military members can purchase a one-day ticket for $69 or a 3-day park hopper for $84.99.

Mystic Aquarium: Active duty military receive free admission. Military family members receive a $10 discount.

Oregon Zoo: Military veterans families, active military families and families of deployed military personnel receive free admission.

Silverwood Theme Park: Military personnel, veterans, police officers and firefighters receive free admission. Immediate family members receive discounted rates.

Overall…

To all active military personnel and veterans, I cannot thank you enough for fighting for our country. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and hope you can take advantage of a Memorial Day discount.
