Another blog post by Mr. Deals…

Wow, if I ever need new material (which tends to happen) I think I just need to call my in-laws and ask them if they are planning a vacation of any sort. The in-laws have been in town over the weekend and it sounds as though they have some flight credits and a companion pass they want to make good use of. I think the credits are expiring so they’ve got a limited window but at the rate things are going, I’ll be shocked if a trip is planned before they expire.

It started Saturday when my father in-law decided to go look for flights. (Actually, I bet it started way before Saturday but they just got in Friday night so lets stick with Saturday). With work obligations and some other stuff, I guess they were looking to do 3 day trip and trying to hit up both Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, SC. A pretty loaded trip for 3 days, but doable (though I bet some readers may have their own thoughts to throw in). Mrs. Deals was kind enough to lend some assistance (she pretty much is the booking agent for her family…and her friends…and me) and after about 30 minutes had just given up. It takes a lot for Mrs. Deals to give up, but it was clear my father-in-law was not doing himself any favors.

After the fourth time hearing “you have to write these down,” I think that was it for Mrs. Deals. My father-in-law had been looking up the same flights over and over again and not writing them down to compare. Every time he started talking about dates with my mother-in-law he had to go back and start over looking up everything. They probably had the same conversation 10 times, just on Saturday, about the dates and flight costs. Then, on Sunday, it happened all over again!

Oh and it looks like they want to go in 2 weeks, which means they’ve got about 10 or so days for this to actually get booked before it doesn’t happen. Somehow they always pull it off though! Anyone got good tips for a quick trip to the south?

Uh oh, they just started talking dates again.

We spent 5 days and 4 nights in Savannah. It would be a shonda (crime) if they don’t spend 3 days and 2 nights!

Get in line at 9:30am to get I to lunch at Ms. Wilkes in Savannah. Worth the wait. Re: writing stuff down..I book via my iPad and when I find a booking I like, I take a screenshot to keep it and compare. I may take several.. then they are easy to compare by just flipping thru my photos.
