With the start of the new month, American Express just announced a new transfer bonus for their Membership Reward points. All transfers to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account will receive a 20% bonus. You can transfer points in 500 point increments, which means 500 points equals 600 Qantas points. This is month long promotion which goes through Nov. 30, 2019.
Steps to Transfer Your Points
Go to the American Express Rewards site, select “Transfer Points” an then “View All.”
You’ll then see all of the partner loyalty programs listed. Scroll down where you’ll see the Qantas promotion listed. Click on the Qantas icon.
You’ll need to link your American Express card to your Qantas account by entering your Amex card info and your Qantas loyalty number.
From there, you can go ahead and transfer your points between the two accounts. You can transfer in 500 point increments, where 500 American Express Membership Reward points equals 600 Qantas points.
Overall…
If you are looking to earn some Qantas points, this is a decent opportunity to increase your point balance. Qantas has a relatively favorable award chart and there are many ways to use your points, even if you are not looking to fly to Australia.
You can use their points on many parter airlines, such as Emirates and El Al internationally. You can even use their points to fly domestically on American Airlines if you find that the points required is less than redeeming on AA directly. For example, roundtrip flights on American Airlines that are less than 600 miles one-way cost only 16,000 miles roundtrip. Upgraded Points also has a great guide on how to redeem your Qantas points and lists some of the best redemption options.
For those looking to redeem their Qantas balance, this is a good way to get a bonus on those miles.
