Starting November 8, 2011 you will be able to earn and redeem points at a new Marriott brand – AC Hotels by Marriott. The AC Hotel collection includes about 90 upscale hotels in Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Like most other Marriott hotels, you will earn 10 points per $1 on the room rate only (or 1 airline mile per $1). In addition to earning points, you will also earn Elite nights and be able to utilize Elite Marriott Rewards benefits.
I am happy to see this additional group of hotels added to the Marriott brand as it really expands their presence in Europe. There are also now a lot of locations all around the three country and not limited to only major cities. To see a list of the hotel locations, click here.
As of right now it does not look like the system incorporates the ability use points at most of the hotels. I am sure once November 8th hits, the the system will be fully up to date and hopefully other rates including, corporate rates, AAA rates, senior discounts, etc. will be included.
