Yesterday I wrote about IHG’s new “Accelerate” promotion where you can earn a bunch of bonus points based on your targeted offer. While bonus points is always nice, the real highlight of the promotion is for new IHG members.

If you are new to the IHG program, meaning you have not yet joined the IHG Rewards Club, you can earn up to two free nights:

  • Two stays = 1 free night
  • Four stays = 2 free nights

This offer runs between September 1 and December 31, 2015. The free nights earned must be used by December 31, 2016. Additionally, new IHG Rewards Club members will receive a targeted offer as well where they can earn around 50,000 points by completing the various “tasks” on their dashboard – this is the promotion that I wrote about yesterday. Sign up for an IHG Rewards Club membership and register for the promotion here.

For existing members that are thinking about creating a new IHG account to take advantage of the free night offers, I suggest being careful. IHG is being known for shutting down accounts and my assumption is if there is any trace that you are actually an existing member, your account will be shut down and you’ll lose any points. IHG hasn’t been to forgiven in the past for those looking to take advantage of their program.
