UPDATE: This offer has expired.
Last month Delta announced some amazing limited time offers for their co-branded American Express credit cards. There are four different cards with varying annual fees. I know one of the things that turns folks off from applying for credit cards is the annual fee that comes along. So, I wanted to point out how you can offset these Delta credit card annual fees and in many cases maybe even make money! While this works for all American Express credit cards, I want to specifically point out the Delta cards since their limited time offer is ending soon.
From the above offers, you see that two cards (Gold) have a $0 annual fee the first year and then a $95 annual fee thereafter. The other two cards (Platinum) have a $195 annual fee the first year plus every year thereafter.
Offsetting Fees with Amex Offers
If you’ve been keeping up on this blog for awhile you are probably well aware by now that I am a huge fan of making free money through the American Express statement credit offers, otherwise known as Amex Offers. These promotions typically require you to spend $X amount of money at a participating merchant to get $Y amount back as a statement credit. Since these are “American Express” offers, you can only use an American Express credit card to be eligible for the statement credit. All four of these Delta credit cards listed above are American Express credit cards and are eligible for these offers. And you are able to receive the statement credits on multiple cards!
While I might be an extreme case since I take advantage of these offers quite often, there was one point where I received $1,000 back in statement credits over a 2 month timeframe across all 10 of my Amex cards (at the time). I wrote about this real life scenario here to help you understand how these statement credits at participating merchants can actually help you save money on everyday purchases!
With the Amex statement credit offers alone, that meant that I averaged $100 back on each card over the course of the two months. I also receive many other statement credits throughout the year. These statement credits allow me to justify the annual fee (if there is one) and “earn” money on top of it! Some pretty popular Amex Offers that came out recently include: $250 statement credit at Sam’s Club, $40 statement credit at JetBlue Airlines, $50 statement credit at Neiman Marcus, $75 statement credit at Sak’s 5th Avenue, $60 statement credit at Hilton, free razors at Dollar Shave Club, $50 statement credit at AirBnB, plus many more!
While I love the American Express credit cards for many other reasons, taking advantage of offers to offset the annual fee and save money on purchases you’d make anyways is great!

If I get a targeted sign up bonus offer for one of these delta cards that I had previously, is it exempt to the once a lifetime rule?
nonsense, with the new interface you will not be able to load offers on multiple cards like you used to…even if you open multiple browsers and get it applied to other cards, the offer will now disappear on all except the first card you apply it to…also offers are always some sort of discount or rebate for SPENDING money at a retailer, so unless you planned to shop at saks or some other store you are just spending more money in order to justify the rebate. I have had offers for months for Hilton, but use points for free stays, so spending $300 for a $60 rebate is retarded…the fact is the only offset is the $100 statement credit on the platinum cards that can be triggered by buying a $5 drink on a delta flight…so -$95 and only if you have a flight planned in the first 4 months that you can buy a drink or snack on. Free bags will save you actual $$$ as well. Others may get use out of the annual companion ticket, and claim the savings against the fee. It is misleading to say that the $1000 you got on your 10 cards can be replicated, you just got lucky, nice to brag about but not a reason to justify a high AF
@wise2u – The new interface works exactly the same as the old interface in terms of being able to add the same offer to multiple card. You can still 100% add the same offer to multiple cards as long as they are in different tabs, it doesn’t have to even be different browsers.
All my spend to receive the statement credit were on purchases I would have made anyways. No bragging here. Just normal purchases where I am maximizing my statement credits and in some cases even making money by purchasing visa gift cards at a discount.
