I just received an email from Hilton that they are having one of their best bonus offers for purchasing ever. Through June 3, 2016, you can purchase up to 80,000 points with a 100% bonus, which ultimately mean you are paying .5 cents per point. They are ultimately selling their points for exactly the same price I’d value a Hilton point at.
This is actually the exact same price they were selling for yesterday during the Daily Getaways. During that post, I mentioned that this is not a price I’d purchase points speculatively at, however, if you do a cost analysis for a certain stay and see you’ll get a better price by purchasing points, then I suggest doing it.
Also keep in mind that if you have Hilton status, you’ll receive your 5th night free when redeeming points. This could help stretch your points further. Hilton is also offering a status match, which can help you earn Hilton Silver, Gold, or Diamond status quite easily through March 2018. Or, if you are not eligible for the status match (because you do not have status at another hotel chain), remember that many of the Hilton co-branded credit cards give you automatic status (either Silver or Gold).
