Purchase Hilton Points with a 50% Discount!

Through December 5, 2016, you can purchase Hilton Honors points with a 50% discount. This means you’ll be purchasing points at a .5 cents per point rate, which is the exact same rate during last months promotion with the “100% bonus promo”. This high of an offer typically doesn’t come around as often, so this is a great time to buy if you have a specific destination in mine. Although, you’ll definitely have to do the math to see if purchasing points actually works out in your favor.

Hilton also upped the amount of points you can purchase per calendar year. Instead of an 80,000 point maximum, they’ve doubled it, and you can now purchase 160,000 points per Hilton account per calendar year. To purchase 160,000 points will cost you $800. You can also only take advantage if you are looking to purchase 10,000 or more points.

As previously mentioned, this offer is good for some, but I definitely do not suggest purchasing points speculatively. I suggest checking out to see if the cost of purchasing points for a redemption is cheaper then paying cash at the hotel. You can use this standard room pricing tool to see how many points a particular hotel will cost.

Also remember, if you have Hilton status (those with Silver, Gold, or Diamond status) get the 5th night free on an award redemptions. You can learn more about earning status from this prior blog post – all four Hilton credit cards also give you status as long as you are a cardmember!

I will personally be sitting this one out. I do not have a specific need for Hilton points and I am really not looking to collect more. But for those that have a specific need, enjoy this promotion!

Thanks to Point Me to the Plane for letting me know about this promo!

This appears to be a targeted offer. I went to my Hhonors account and it only showed the normal price. I then chatted online with a Hhonors representative who also told me that the discount was only showing up for members who received the targeted email.
