While there has been much debate on the new British Airways program, The Points Guy has outlined some great ways to rack up on these points to use for free travel!
Deal #1: Make a $50 or more Nordstrom.com purchase via the British Airways e-store and you will receive 36 points per dollar spent!Â
This is an amazing deal to rack up some British Airways Avios points. This deal is primarily valuable for those who would be making a purchase at Nordstrom.com anyways, but for those who only fly business or first class, you actually might find this deal cheaper than purchasing the ticket outright. Typically, you earn 12 Avios points per $1 spent, but through February 14Â the terms state: “Triple Avios will be awarded on your 1st qualifying purchase at British Airways eStore of more than $50 in a single transaction at Nordstrom via eStore.” This means that you will earn 3x the normal earning rate of 12 points per dollar, equaling 36 points per dollar.
Let’s say you are looking to purchase a business class ticket to Europe or South America, for example. This will run you 100,000 points per ticket or $4,000+. A $2,777 purchase at Nordstrom.com via this promotion will also get you those 100,000 points! This could possibly be cheaper than purchasing the business class ticket AND you will get some free clothes. Remember though, you still need to pay taxes/fees on your award redemption, free flights are not always available, and you do not earn when points when redeeming points. You can find out the number of points needed to redeem for a free flight here.
You must make your purchase via the British Airways eStore. Sign into the BA Miles eStore with your username and password. This will track your purchase and credit you with the appropriate points from your purchase. Ultimately, you are shopping and purchasing from your normal Nordstrom.com site, but just need to go through these extra few steps to get the Avois points to post properly.
Once you access the British Airways eStore, select Nordstrom under the “Double Avios Store” column.
The next page will verify the 3x points you will receive, however, you MUST enter the promotion code NORDX3. Click the “Submit” button and make sure you receive the message stating “Thank you, your promotional code has been accepted!” If this is not entered you will not receive the triple points. Click the “Shop Now” button and you will be brought directly to the Nordstrom.com site where you can make your purchase as normal.
Nordstroms has free shipping and free returns and the best return policy out of any store I know. Essentially, there is no return policy which allows you to return an item at any time as long as you have the receipt and tags attached – even if it is three years from now! So while these online bonus purchase deals sometimes do not go as planned, there really is little risk. If the points do not post and you only wanted the item due to this great deal – slap on the pre-paid shipping label and drop the box off at USP. However, The Points Guy has already seen some success, so the deal seems to be working! I think of this as a great excuse to do some shopping!
Deal #2: Get 3,000 British Airways Avios points for FREE with a 7-day free trial from Realtytrac
The BA eStore is running another great promotion and giving out 3,000 free British Airways Avois points with a RealtyTrac membership (RealtyTrac is an online service giving you access to real estate properties in various cities). While a paid membership is quite expensive, you can get a free 7-day trial.
The terms state “Customers earn after selecting the 7-day trial or the monthly subscription and completing the sign-up pages; customers earn after a sale is concluded.” Although the two sentences do not go hand in hand, people have reported success with this offer. And if it does not work, it did not cost you anything, so might as well! However, if you are one to sign up for free trials and then forget to cancel, this deal is probably not for you. If you DO NOT CANCEL your membership within the 7 days, you will be charged $49.95 per month. A short haul flight will run you about 4,500 Avios points/one-way.
To access this deal, search for “RealtyTrac” in the “Retailers and Products” search bar. No special promotional code is needed, just click “Shop Now” and you are good.
Once you are on the RealtyTrac page, select any state on the map. On the next page click the “Sign Up” button for your free 7-day trial. Enter your information and voilà you are 3,000 Avios points richer – JUST REMEMBER TO CANCEL!
To cancel: “Contact our customer service team any time during business hours (8AM – 5PM Pacific Time)
at 877-888-8722.”

Do the Nordstrom points all go posted at once or has it been scatter shot of 12x for normal promo and then 24x to round out the triple promo?
@travel abstract – seems as though it posts as two different transactions.
How long did the avios points take to post for RealtyTrac?
@GA – It will take a few days for the item to be “pending” in your BA eStore history. I’d wait till you see this pending bonus, then cancel.
Each item posts individually, then each 12x bonus posts individually as well.
@The Deal Mommy – Thanks for clarifying! Each item will post twice. Once for the normal 12x points, than once for the additional 24x bonus points.
it’s down to 4 AVIOS points x 3 or 12 points per dollar as of 5 minutes ago. I don’t understand why they changed it when it was supposed to be until 2/14!!!
