American Airlines is running a promotion where if you transfer points from a hotel loyalty program to American Airlines you’ll receive a 25% bonus. This promotion runs through Oct. 30, 2019 and applies to many hotel transfers:
**Transfers from Hilton Honors, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, and Wyndham Rewards do not get the 25% bonus for whatever reason!
Unfortunately, with no more Starwood program around and the Marriott’s Hotel + Air packages devalued, there is no great opportunity to get a good value. For me personally, this transfer option is best for orphaned points in another program where you weren’t going to redeem them for a free night anyways or for those who fly business and first class and get some amazing redemption values when redeeming points. Also, for those of you who are looking to wipe out your Marriott points, this could be a good opportunity.
While any promotion is a great opportunity to maximize miles, this might be a promotion that most of you sit out these days.

Do the Marriott air and hotel packages qualify for this transfer? I thought they were excluded???
They are. It is a mistake. Please do not write such things!
@Zaib – In the past, they’ve always qualified and I haven’t read any reports saying they haven’t worked this time around.
I called them and read the terms and conditions, they do not qualify.
“Members can convert multiple times with multiple Hotel Partners to earn bonus points. Conversions for hotel and air packages from Hotel Partners are not included for this offer. This offer is non-transferable and cannot be combined with any other offers. Conversions that take place before a member is registered for the offer will not count toward the offer.”
This one and the last one excluded the Marriott packages. There were reports with the last one as well of people not getting the bonus when using Marriott packages.
This is clearly spelled out in the terms – “Conversions for hotel and air packages from Hotel Partners are not included for this offer”
