This was originally posted in May, but just wanted to remind you all that the deadline for referring your friends to Southwest is coming up soon – your friend MUST sign up with Southwest by July 20th.
A few days ago I received an email from Southwest that told me I could get up to 2,000 points for referring friends to simply join the Southwest program. I was told I’d get 500 bonus points per friend that I invite and signs up (up to four referrals). It took me about a minute to refer four different friends and another 5 minutes total for signing up these friends. If you friend signs up and subscribes to all the newsletters they will receive 750 points. For this particular offer, the friend does NOT need to fly or anything, just simply sign up – super simple!
This is a very generous offer by Southwest as 2,000 points is worth a fixed $33.33 on a Southwest “Wanna Getaway” fare. Everyone who received this offer should have no issue at all earning these points. Unfortunately though it is a targeted offer and a unique code was included in the email.
Additionally, when I was on FlyerTalk yesterday, I noticed that there is another targeted offer being passed along as well to select Southwest members. Some were receiving emails where if they refer just one friend and the friend signs up and flies a roundtrip flight on Southwest by July 20, 2013 they will receive 2,500 bonus points! The friend will also receive the same 2,500 bonus points which is great. With this promotion, the referrer is able to refer up to four friends for a total of 10,000 points which is worth $166.67 towards a future Southwest “Wanna Getaway” fare. The 2,500 points the referee receives is worth $41.67 towards a “Wanna Getaway” fare.
If you are not currently enrolled in the Southwest program (which I doubt is many) and you are flying by July 20, 2013 and would like someone to refer you to the program, feel free to comment below. If you were targeted and would like to refer someone, go ahead! Hopefully some readers can earn some points out of this!

This came out in March originally if I remember correctly. My 2,000 points just posted in two different accounts that referred “friends”. Couldn’t remember what the miles were for at first, all that was required was a friend’s e-mail address.
my offer was for 2500 points per friend, in the friend gets 5000 points.
Btw, id be happy to refer a few people so they can get the 5000 miles. The offer only lets me pocket 10k but I assume everone referred can get the 5k
My Offer: Invite them to join Rapid Rewards®, and you can receive 2,500 bonus points if they sign up and complete a roundtrip flight booked through Southwest Airlines® between May 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013. And, your friend will get 5,000 bonus points!

Will my friend need to re-book her SW ticket with the referred promo code to earn the bonus points? Thx.
@Christine – Is your friends flight currently booked under his/her rapid reward number? Or do they not have one yet?
No, she doesn’t have one.
@Christine – I wasn’t targeted for that promotion, so I do not have the exact terms in the promotion. In the email you received, what does it say?
@Christine – The terms in my email only state the “Referred friend must book a roundtrip flight through Southwest Airlines before July 20, 2013”. It doesn’t mention anything about after a certain date and it doesn’t seem to require you enroll in the promotion itself before the actual flight as long as you register retroactively before July 20, 2013 and apply for past flight points.
Promo code: 41632518
Any easy way to get targeted?
@BOB – Unfortunately not.
I will also throw the hat in the ring. Here is my offer: Invite them to join Rapid Rewards®, and you can receive 2,500 bonus points if they sign up and complete a roundtrip flight booked through Southwest Airlines® between May 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013. And, your friend will get 5,000 bonus points! In the promotion code field enter 300024359

My offer gives 250 points for enrolling in Rapid Rewards, and another 500 bonus points for “opt in” for two marketing emails with your new RR account. Must stay signed up for the marketing emails for 3 months to receive the 500 bonus points. If you book and fly a round trip flight between May 20 and July 20, 2013 you’ll earn 2500 more points.

PROMO CODE: 50315639, enter in the “Promotion Code” field in the bottom section of the enrollment process page.
Fine Print says to wait 6-8 weeks from the end of the promotion (7/20/13) to see the 2500 points post. The first 250 signup points appear immediately.
@Christine, I had the same question. I had a friend who was going on Southwest flight but wasn’t enrolled in their rewards program. I had her enroll with my promotion code and apply her RR number to her existing flight. She has completed the trip and got the normal amount of Rapid Rewards points but no additional bonus and I also did not have any points posted to my account. I will investigate further with customer service but, unfortunately, it looks like the flight might have been required to be booked in that same time frame.

Thanks Jordan – I just used your link.

Members who qualified for this promotion will earn 2,500 bonus points for each referred friend who joins Rapid Rewards and completes a roundtrip flight booked through Southwest Airlines between May 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013. A maximum of 10,000 bonus points will be issued, regardless of the number of friends referred. Referred friend must enroll in Rapid Rewards between May 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013 through the special enrollment link provided in the e-mail to qualify for the promotion. Referred friend must also ensure the unique promotion code (“45441201”) is included in the “promotion code” field during the enrollment process to qualify for the promotion. Referred friend must book a roundtrip flight through Southwest Airlines before July 20, 2013. Referred friend’s roundtrip flight must be completed between May 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013. Please allow six to eight weeks after the end of the promotion for your points to post to your Rapid Rewards account. All Rapid Rewards rules and regulations apply.
@Jordan- When you say “Referred friend must book a roundtrip flight through Southwest Airlines before July 20, 2013″ does that mean I would have to book AND fly before July 20, 2013 or do I just book a roundtrip flight before July 20, 2013? I’m interested in being referred

@jamy- My offer says “sign up and complete a roundtrip flight booked through Southwest Airlines® between May 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013” so I think that means you need to actually fly by then.
@Jamy- The other part I quoted was referring to when you had to enroll in the promotion itself (not the rapid rewards program)
@Kimi- Sorry I haven’t checked this thread recently, but I’m glad we could help each other out! Enjoy!
