This is just a reminder that you have only have a few more days (until Monday September 15th to be exact) to active for your 3rd quarter 5x point bonus categories for Chase Freedom credit card spend. This means through September 30th you will earn 5x points at all gas stations and Kohl’s up to $1,500. If you hit the $1,500 spend cap that will earn you an additional 6,000 points on your already existing 1 point per cent purchase (which would be 1,500 points, so you’ll end up with a total of 7,500 points). If you do not manually activate the bonus each quarter, the bonus points will NOT be posted to your account.

2014 Bonus Spend Categories:

  • January-March: Gas Stations, Movie Theater, Starbucks
  • April-June: Restaurants, Lowes
  • July-September: Gas stations, Kohl’s – activate now
  • October-December: Amazon.com, Zappos, Select department stores

This is a great card for your typical spending categories, i.e., gas, groceries, dining, travel, etc. Earning 5x points during the active time frame is a huge bonus, especially when there is no annual fee for this card. This is a card to use for certain categories throughout the year! You have probably heard about this card before and coupling it with the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ink Bold or Chase Ink Plus for the full trifecta affect and fully maximizing your points! Read this prior post on Maximizing your Chase Ultimate Reward points.

Make sure to not leave those bonus points on the table!
