Last week I wrote about a new Hertz promotion where you will earn double points on your first rental and triple points on all additional rentals. While this is a great promotion for those that rent with Hertz often, it is also a way to extend your point expiration. Just for registering for this promotion you’ll earn 25 points. While this is a minimal amount of free points, it will extend your account expiration for an additional 24 months.
When I initially wrote about this promotion, I know a few people were having issues registering. It seems like the glitch has been fixed and registration should work for everyone. This promotion started yesterday, September 8, 2015 and will run through December 15, 2015.
Just make sure to register!

Great tip! Tips like this are so useful and appreciated.
Hi, does bonus point activity actually extend the expiration date? The reason I’m asking is that my points just expired yesterday without any warning. Awardwallet stated that my points were due to expire in 2017 but they still expired due to no qualifying rental. I spoke to the Gold line and they said that bonus points do not extend the rental. I also had bonus points in January 2015.
@PM – My understanding is that it does, but I could be wrong. If the bonus points back in January 2015 did not extend your points then I guess it does not. I always book a car for 12 months out to extend the expiration and then cancel the rental.
Qualifying Hertz points activity is from paid rentals only!
