As some of you probably remember, Hyatt went through a nice devaluation earlier this year (you can read more about it here) and booking a free night for a category 5-7 hotel will now require more points.
However, for award stays booked pre-January 7, you have up until February 15, 2014 to change the date of your reservation without being hit with the new award chart. I know many people make speculative bookings as they were not 100% sure of their travel plans. Spend the next few days figuring out those plans so you can change your reservations accordingly and lock them in at the old rates.
I personally booked a few nights at the Hyatt Beaver Creek knowing that I was going to change the dates. While I am still picking a random weekend to go that I might have to change, I wanted to be able to book for next February, which I will now be able to do. Previously this hotel was 22,000 points a night and is now pricing out at 30,000 points a night! As long as there is availability, Hyatt allows you to book 364 days in advance.
Do not forget to change any reservations that you intended to do so as any changes post February 15 will price out with the new award chart.

Is there any resolution regarding the question of whether or not you can add days to a reservation at the old rates? Form my reading of FT, it seems that we were lied to…
@Gene – I personally do not remember reading anything that you can tack on more nights to a reservation and pay the old rates.
