WOW Air just discounted many of their flights from the US to Europe and is running a $49 fare sale. While we’ve seen low prices in the past from this airline, I’ve never seen anything this low. These low fares are available for travel between January 21 and March 11, 2019 between Boston (BOS), Washington, D.C. (BWI), New York (EWR) and Detroit (DTW) TO Reykjavik (KEF), Dublin (DUB), Brussels (BRU), Frankfurt (FRA) and London (LGW).

I just did a quick search for many of the routes listed and I really did find some $49 flights available. For the Boston to Reykjavik route, for example, I found some $49 flights to Europe, but not home from Europe. Although there were still many $99 fares available if you are willing to reach slightly deeper into your pocket.

Keep in mind though that the cheap fares are their “WOW Basic” fares which includes essentially nothing, except one personal item. If you are able to back in a back pack, like I did when I took a sibling trip to Iceland, then you can be spared the extra fees. But if you want to pick your own seat and have a carry on and/or checked bag, that $49 flight can easily be tripled! But if you and and your family can pack strategically, this is a great opportunity!

I personally flew WOW Air a few years back and had a very positive experience. I am also not one to “need” business class seats so the WOW Air seats for a 5 hour flight were more than fine with me. With that being said, whether or not WOW Air stays in business in the short or long term is up in the air, so just keep that in mind.
