Throughout this year I’ve written about some awesome money saving opportunities when shopping at Amazon. While many of them are targeted, if you are eligible it is a great way to save some money or even purchase another merchant gift card at a discount.
There are four promotions that I know of that are expiring today, December 31, 2017. Now, some of these might no longer be available as they might have reached their max, but since I have already taken advantage of them, I cannot see whether or not the promo code still works.
Promotion #1: $15 Credit on a $50 Gift Card Purchase
Purchase $50 of Amazon Gift cards you’ll automatically receive a $15 promotional credit to apply to your Amazon account. Unfortunately though, this is a targeted offer, but you might as well check and see if you are eligible! 
You can see if you are eligible by signing into your Amazon account and seeing if the offer pops up for you on this promotion page. Or, during checkout, apply code 2017AMZFAM and see if it takes. This offer expires December 31, 2017.
Promotion #2: $30 off a $60+ Purchase
Amazon is offering targeted customers the opportunity to receive $30 off a $60+ at Amazon.com. This promotion is only for American Express Membership Rewards earning credit card members. This is an AMAZING deal since all you have to do is use just 1 Membership Reward point towards your purchase! You can check to see if you are eligible here.
Steps to take advantage:
- If you haven’t already linked your American Express card to your Amazon account, you can do that here.
- Check to see if you are eligible for this offer here. If so, make sure to click the “Click here to activate†button.
- Shop at Amazon.com and add $60 worth of products (which must be sold and shipped by Amazon.com) to your Shopping card. Many merchant gift cards work as well, so you can go ahead and search for merchant gift cards here.
- On the payment page, select your linked Membership Rewards earning credit card. At the bottom of the payment page you’ll see all your linked accounts where you can use points (Chase and Amex). Select your American Express Membership Rewards Points account and enter the number of points you want to use towards your purchase. Since I do not like redeeming my points at Amazon (due to the low redemption value), I entered just 1 cent which means 1 point will be applied. For the promotion to apply, the minimum amount required is only 1 point! Do not do full points as it is not a good value!
- On the checkout page, you’ll see the 1 point applied and the $30 taken off. No promotion code needed!
And since this promotion doesn’t require a coupon code, you are able to combine it with any codes that surface!
Promotion #3: $25 Coupon on a $50+ Purchase
I am not sure if this promotion still works. This promotion does not require you to enter a promotion code, but you must save the coupon to your account in advance. This promotion will automatically give you a $25 discount on a $50 or more purchase.
Steps to take advantage:
- Link your American Express card to your Amazon account here.
- Go to this Amazon page and see if you are eligible. If so, click the yellow “Click here to qualify†button.
- Shop at Amazon.com and add $50 worth of products (which must be sold and shipped by Amazon.com) to your Shopping card. Many merchant gift cards work as well, so you can go ahead and search for merchant gift cards here.

Promotion #4: $25 Promotion Code on a $50+ Purchase
I am not sure if this promotion still works. This promotion has been around since the beginning of the year and is set to expire on December 31, 2017 or until 80,000 people use it. As of June when I applied the promo to my account, it still worked. This is a promotional code where you must apply AMEX17EVER at checkout.
Steps to take advantage:
- Link your American Express card to your Amazon account here.
- Shop at Amazon.com and add $50 worth of products (which must be sold and shipped by Amazon.com) to your Shopping card. Many merchant gift cards work as well, so you can go ahead and search for merchant gift cards here.

For some of the Amex Membership Reward promos, they’ll only work if you haven’t used a similar promotion in the past 24 months. With that being said, in the past, Amazon customer service has been very generous and has manually applied offers to accounts that were not eligible, so it is worth a try to see if it works this time as well! Directions on contacting customer service and getting this applied are similar to this past post (just keep in mind that the coupon code and discount used in the prior post is for an old promotion – make sure to give customer service the information listed in this blog post).
There are also many other Amazon promotions that do not expire until 2018 – you can check them all out here. Above are the only (possibly still valid offers) that are expiring today.
