Last week I wrote about a munch of Amex Offers that were set to expire at the end of the year. However, I wanted to specifically point out the offers that will save you a ton of money specifically on travel. While some of these offers are direct airline and hotel merchants, other are random stores where you can purchase travel related gift cards and trigger the statement credit.
- W Hotels: Spend $400+, get a $80 statement credit. Blog Post
- Tip: Will only work for charges that hit your credit card statement by December 31st, but if you have a pre-paid stay and it charges your credit card before the stay, it will trigger the statement credit. This is ONLY for Westin hotels in the US, not other hotels under the Starwood umbrella.
- Westin Hotels & Resorts:Â Spend $250+, get a $50 statement credit. Â Blog Post
- Tip: Will only work for charges that hit your credit card statement by December 31st, but if you have a pre-paid stay and it charges your credit card before the stay, it will trigger the statement credit. This is ONLY for Westin hotels in the US, not other hotels under the Starwood umbrella.
- Dollar General:Â Spend $25+, get a $5 statement purchase.
- Tip: Valid in-store at any Dollar General or Dollar General Market. Dollar General sells gift cards for many other merchants, such as Shell which will help you save money on your next road trip. You can also receive a statement credit up to three times per registered card for this merchant!
- Undercover Tourist:Â Spend $150+, get a $30 statement credit.
- Tip:Â Valid at undercovertourist.com. This is a great way to get Disney World, Universal, SeaWorld, and LegoLand tickets at a discount PLUS the statement credit!
- AirBnB:Â Spend $100+, get a $50 statement credit. Blog Post

- Tip:Â Many reports have shown that gift card purchases are working, it just is taking a few weeks to even a month. If you do not use the gift card within 90 days it will refund the gift card purchase automatically to the credit card used to pay for it, so you won’t be out any money if you decide not to use the gift card or if it ends up not triggering the statement credit.
- Newegg.com:Â Spend $200+, get a $25 statement credit. Blog Post

- Tip: You can purchase American Airlines, Hyatt, Carnival Cruise, Royal Caribbean, BedandBreakfast.com, Celebrity Cruises, and Westgate Resorts gift cards.

- Tip:Â Need to book your train ride by this date, do not need to actually travel by this date.
- Sheraton Hotels & Resorts:Â Spend $250+, get a $50 statement credit. Blog Post

- Tip: Many travel related gift cards can be purchased through the Amazon site, including Southwest, AirBnB, BedandBreakfast.com, Hyatt, Carnival Cruises, etc. You can view on the travel related gift cards here.
- Uber:Â Spend $20+, get a $10 statement credit.

- Tip: Unfortunately Uber no longer sells gift cards, but if you are on vacation over the next few days where you can take an Uber, this can help you save money.
- Toys R Us:Â Spend $25+, get a $5 statement credit.

- Tip: You can purchase a Shell gift card in-store to trigger the statement credit. This will help you save money on your next road trip.
- ExxonMobile:Â Spend $30+, get a $10 statement credit.
- Tip: This is a highly targeted offer, but if eligible will help you save money on your next road trip.
- Walmart.com:Â Spend $35+, get a $10 statement credit.
- Tip: Only valid online, but you can purchase a $50 Southwest Airlines gift card and trigger the statement credit. This is a 20% discount for Southwest. This is a highly targeted offer.
- Home Depot:Â Spend $400+, get a $60 statement credit.
- Tip:Â Another highly targeted offer, but Home Depot sells gift cards to MANY merchants in-store. You can purchase many gas gift cards to save on your next road trip, or even a Visa gift card to pay for any travel related purchases.

Great article I have taken advantage of quite a few of these offers, as a business traveler it is like free money 🙂 The Embassy Suites and Uber offers were very useful in particular, my wife however loved the Dollar General one she gets some teaching supplies there.
