To earn the sign up bonus, you must fund $100 in your Money account within 14 days and within your Invest account within 7 days. You are also capped at earning $10,000 bonus for referring other.

Steps to Open up a SoFi Invest account

To receive the $50 in free stock, you’ll first need to open up a SoFi Invest account. The process is almost identical to opening a SoFi Money account. Use the same username/password as you used for your SoFi Money account so everything is linked.

You’ll then have the option to fund your $100 with your linked SoFi Money account or your checking account. Instead of funding the SoFi Invest account with another $100, you can actually transfer the money from your SoFi Money account to your SoFi Invest account instead. If your $100 from opening your SoFi money account is not yet accessible, you can wait until the money is there to fund your SoFi Invest account. Just make sure it is done within 7 days of opening your SoFi Invest account.

Once your account is created, your are immediately given $50 to select the stock of your choice. Some stock options include: Amazon, Apple, CVS, Google, Pinterest, Microsoft, Starbucks, etc. There are a ton to select from.

For every friend you refer to SoFi invest, you’ll earn a $50 bonus. The money you earn from referrals is not in stock, but instead in straight cash, similar to the SoFi Money account. You can invest this money in stock, if you want, but there is no requirement.

Interestingly enough, when I referred my husband to the Invest account, it showed up in my account overnight. I had not even funded my account with the $100 yet at that point. I waited for my $100 to clear from my SoFi Money account, then transferred it over to my Invest account. My initial $100 transfer to my SoFi Money account took 3 business days to clear.

Similar to the SoFi Money account bonus, this is a great way to make some money for just a few minutes of work. By just opening up both a SoFi Money and SoFi Invest account you can get $200 in free money, plus $100 in free stock, if you do it in two-player mode (you plus a significant other).
