If you follow me often, you probably already know that Southwest is by far my favorite airline. I am able to secure the companion pass every year allowing someone in my family to fly with me for free, I can book and cancel tickets without fees, if a fare goes down in price I get my points back into my account, and I am easily able to sit with my family with no problems at all. airplanes parked at an airport

Like most millennials, I do a lot of “work” on my phone. And a lot of my work involves booking flights! One thing that has always annoyed me is that Southwest would not allow you to search or book international flights via the app or on their mobile site – their technology just didn’t support it. It would always force you to go to their full website site which isn’t too user friendly on a phone. Yes, you could search and book flights this way, but you need skinny fingers to select the exact fields and buttons to complete your purchase and it just got annoying.

Well, it looks like the Southwest technology has finally come through and you can now book international flights using any method you’d like. The app and mobile site now supports all flight searches and reservations! If you are an avid Southwest traveler, this will definitely make booking international flights much easier! It definitely will help with my Southwest flight addiction as well!

thanks for the update! What i truly miss from the functionality of the site was when they had an interactive map where you could choose a range of dates and range of price and click from your home airport (or any others) – and look around at different destinations and price structure. For someone who can travel easily on a weekend and maintains a “must visit” list – this was beyond helpful to plan a random weekend –

Just travelled to Jamaica with family of 4. We had a total of 7 confirmation numbers. Days before the flight I spent 30 mins on the phone with Southwest to enter all passport information so we wouldn’t have to deal with it at check in. Unfortunately, when checking in in the US and again in Jamaica we had to enter all this information again to check in. The only one we didn’t have to was on my daughter that was booked on a roundtrip companion pass.

They really need to address this. Passport info. should be in your Rapid Rewards profile and should populate your reservation when ticketed while logged in. This is ridiculous especially when trying to check in early for good seats and you find you need to dig up passport info to check in. Errr.
