Due to the Wright Amendment, Southwest’s operations out of Dallas Love Field were limited. But that is ending very soon, which means more nonstop flights throughout the US!
Starting October 13, you’ll be able to fly nonstop from Dallas Love Field to the following cities:
- Washington, DC
- Orlando
- Las Vegas
- Chicago Midway
- Denver
Staring November 2, 2014, you’ll be able to fly nonstop from Dallas Love Field to the following cities:
- New York LaGuardia
- Baltimore
- Nashville
- Atlanta
- Tampa Bay
- San Diego
- Phoenix
- Los Angeles
- Orange County
- Ft. Lauderdale
This is great news and will really open up the route map to allow for additional connections as well!
What is the Wright Amendment? From the Southwest website:
“Today, the Wright Amendment restricts us to flying nonstop to only nine states (including Texas) from Dallas Love Field. We currently offer nonstop service to eight of those nine states.
On October 13, 2014, when the Wright Amendment is officially repealed, we will gain the ability to provide nonstop service to an additional 41 states, plus the District of Columbia.
This gives Southwest Airlines an immediate opportunity to add more nonstops all across America from Dallas Love Field.”
This is great for those located in Dallas. It will give travelers the option of now flying Southwest to more places and could potentially help with pricing on other airlines. The companion pass is probably looking even better now to those based in Dallas!

Sounds like the “wright” decision to me.
Looks like you got Baltimore and DC reversed on your list. (And was the “What is the Write Amendment” subheading intentional? Hard to tell.)
