If you are planning on flying Southwest, you do not want to miss out on this Southwest status match opportunity. With this status match, you’ll receive immediate Southwest A-List status for three months and then potentially be extended for another 12 months. You just need to show proof that you have status with another U.S. airline. Time is running out those to submit your match as you only have until Dec. 31, 2019.

With this match, you’ll receive A-List status immediately upon them processing your registration (says it will take up to 12 business days). You’ll then receive the complimentary status for three months. To maintain the status for an additional 12 months, you must complete three roundtrip or six-one ways within those three months. I personally took advantage of this promotion last year and it only took five days for my new A-List status to be recognized.

Similar to every single Southwest promotion, only new flights booked AFTER registering for the promotion count. That means any previously booked flights will NOT count, but you can always cancel your flight and re-book to qualify. Just keep in mind that the price might not be the same, so make sure that if there is a price difference it is worth it to earn the status.
Overall…
Of course Southwest status won’t get you a first class seat, but it does have some perks. You’ll receive priority boarding, a 25% point-earning bonus, free same day standby for an easier flight, priority check-in and security lane access and a dedicated A-List member phone line. For me personally, my favorite benefit is the priority boarding. And for paid flights, getting a 25% bonus is a great way to increase my point balance as well.

Great info! I earned A list last year via status match last year and that expires in October.
So I’m filing this away in the back of my head and will do it again in November. Hope that Dec 9th dexpiration date holds!
