Yesterday I posted about a promotion where targeted Amazon.com accounts could get $20 off by linking a Membership Rewards account and using at least 1 point towards the purchase. Well, if you were targeted and haven’t yet taken advantage of the promotion, I have good news for you – you can purchase another merchants gift card and the $20 off applies! Thanks to reader David for letting me know!
There are many gift cards available in $20 or $25 denominations. Here is a list of the top gift card merchants:
For example, I added a $25 Starbucks gift card to my cart (they only come in denominations for $25 and $50), applied 1 Membership Reward point to my purchase and was left with a remaining balance of $4.99!
For those that were targeted for the promotion and were just going to buy something they really didn’t need, this might be a better option. Now you can have a gift card for another merchant where you shop at anyways. And for those that do not have Amazon Prime, gift cards ship for free. Unfortunately though, Amazon.com gift cards do not apply.

I tried adding a second Amex, no success getting the $20 off. Also tried purchasing a second gift card several timed with the first enrolled card, no success. How did you make it work?
@Pam – Are you eligible with the first Amex account?
