UPDATE: This offer is no longer available.

With so many credit cards out there, it is important to know which one will earn you the most points for your expensive purchases. Credit card points earned can add up quickly and get you a free vacation faster then you’d imagine. For those that like to make their hotel reservations via hotels.com (instead of directly with the hotel itself), there is one credit card that you will absolutely want to have in your wallet. Both the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card are the only two cards that will earn you 10x points on all purchases made at hotels.com. UPDATE: These two cards no longer earn 10x points on purchases made at hotels.com

Capital One points are worth a fixed 1 cent per point, so you can think of it as if you are earning 10% back on your hotel stay. There is no other credit card I know of that will earn you this much back at any hotel booking site! To receive the 10x points, you’ll have to book your stay through Hotels.com/Venture. As of right now, this 10x point bonus is going through January 2020, but could always be extended. Note: Unfortunately, it was not extended.

If you are new to Hotels.com, it is a third-party hotel reservation site where you can book a thousands and thousands (and thousands!) of hotels. They include hotels both tied to a chain (i.e., Hyatt, Marriott, etc.) as well as boutique properties across the world. While you typically do not earn the chains hotel points if you book through Hotels.com, Hotels.com has its own loyalty program where many would argue it is actually better then the points you’d earn directly with the hotel. With the Hotels.com loyalty program, you’ll receive a free night after every 10 nights booked. The free night can be redeemed at any hotel you find on Hotels.com and is worth the average price of the 10 nights booked. Keep in mind that many chain hotels will also not recognize elite benefits if you book through a third-party system.

Combining the 10x Points and Loyalty Program Benefit

The great thing is that even though you have to use a special link to receive the 10x points by using your Venture card, you will still earn the night credits in the Hotels.com loyalty program. This means you are getting 20% back on every hotel night booked – 10% back in points with the Venture card and 10% back towards a future free night with the loyalty program. This is an unbelievable value!

It’s a free night after 10 paid nights so the 11th is free working out to be 9% not 10%.

It is absolutely 10 percent. If you paid 50 bucks a night for ten nights you will have spent 500 bucks. Then, you get $50 (in the form of a free night) $50 is ten percent of the $500 you spent.
