Post #4 compliments of Mr. Deals…

Mr. Deals is not obsessed with deals like the wife is.  She’s got more to her than just travel deals, believe me. I should’ve known what I was getting into when we first moved in together and her favorite day of the week was Sunday. Why Sunday?  Not because of football (I had my fingers crossed) or because it was just a day to do nothing. Oh no, it was because that is when the CVS circular (among many others) was updated each week. I kid you not, Mrs. Deals would wake up early on Sunday mornings just to see the circular.

Now, what I’ve come to learn over the past 4+ years of living with Mrs. Deals is that I cannot let any deal pass us by. For example, I was just cleaning out my wallet of receipts I’ve collected over the past few days just to make sure I wasn’t missing any potential expenses for work. What did I come across? It was a CVS receipt from a Gatorade I got after working out. Now why the hell would I keep this?  I asked myself the same question until I looked down and saw the deal that was in front of my eyes – ‘Stop by the pharmacy to pick up a med pack brochure and get a $5.00 CVS gift card.’

My first thought: What has Mrs. Deals done to me? In the past I never would’ve cared about these things. This would’ve gone right in the trash (I hope that didn’t get too many gasps out of the readers). But for whatever reason, this woman has rubbed off on me.

So fast forward to the expiration date and all of the sudden I realize I have forgotten to go get my $5.00 gift card. Mrs. Deals is already in bed and I’m still up messing around the apartment and I get inspired. I tell Mrs. Deals I need to run to CVS to get this done before it expires. Given her tired state and the fact that she was already in bed she said it wasn’t a big deal. And when I walked out the door to go get it deep down I knew she was just jumping up and down with excitement.

IPBrian, I used to chuck most of those things. I don’t think the Mrs. would’ve married me if she ever saw me do that way back when…
