Last week I wrote about an increased offer The Blue Business Plus American Express Credit Card. While it is not offering the deal of a lifetime welcome offer, it is one of two cards I highly recommend having in your wallet. And getting this card with some bonus offer is better then nothing! for For those of you who are not aware, there are two types of Amex Membership Reward credit cards – those that earn full Membership Reward points and those that earn limited Membership Reward points. Accounts with full Membership Reward points means that you can transfer your points from your account to ANY participating partner hotel or airline program. If you have a credit card that earns limited Membership Reward points you will NOT be able to transfer your points to a one of these loyalty programs and can only redeem your points for merchandise, gift cards, etc. Typically, transferring your points to a partner program gets you a much higher value for your points, so having a full earning Membership Reward card is important!

While most American Express cards that come will full Membership Reward points have an annual fee attached to them, there are two that have no annual fee.

  • The Blue Businessâ„  Plus Credit Card from American Express
  • The Amex EveryDay® Credit Card from American Express

Having one of these two cards means that you never have to worry about an annual fee and will always have an open Membership Rewards account that earns full points. This is important because if you cancel an Amex card that earns Membership Reward points, you will lose your points unless you have another Amex card that also earns full Membership Reward points. So let’s say you currently have an American Express Platinum card and are thinking about canceling the card. But, you currently have points in your account and do not want to transfer them out to a loyalty partner just yet as you aren’t 100% sure where you want to use them. If you have one of the two cards mentioned above, either the The Blue Business℠ Plus Credit Card from American Express or The Amex EveryDay® Credit Card from American Express, then you will not lose your points and still be able to transfer them to a loyalty program at another time.

Both are great cards to have, but having one of them is really helpful! I also love both cards since I love being able to take advantage of Amex Offers on no annual fee American Express credit cards!
