The hotel booking site TripRebel recently reached out and gave me the opportunity to learn more about their hotel booking site. It is similar to any other third-party booking site with one nice twist – they will track your reservation up until two-days prior to check in and if the price drops they will re-book your reservation with the lower price. It takes little to no effort on your part as they are the ones doing the constant checking.
Also, if you do not want to book directly through TripRebel, you can book on another site and forward your reservation to their customer service team. They will then add your reservation to their tracking system and if they find a better deal they will let you know. They will also check to see if there are any hotels close by that are a better deal for the same qualify of service. This is a similar concept to Autoslash for those familiar with this car rental tracking site.
My Experience
I recently used the site to book a hotel in Newport, Rhode for one night last week. The rate was the exact same as booking through the boutique hotel directly, or using another third-party reservation site like Expedia.com. The benefit I received with TripRebel is that my rate was monitored and if it went down in price I’d receive the reduced price. Since I only booked the hotel less than a week in advance and it was peak summer time in Newport, I did not expect the rate to go down. And I was right, there was no drop in price, but I did monitor it myself just to ensure TripRebel didn’t miss anything.
Overall
When a rate is the exact same, I love the concept of being able to book through a site that will monitor my reservation for me. While I personally check my hotel reservations quite often, I know many people like to book and never have to think of it again.
TripRebel is also offering all Deals We Like readers $30 off a $150+ room reservation. Use code DEALSWELIKE30. This code is valid for reservations made through September 30, 2015.

Thanks for your report…
Can you clarrify for the major hotel chains if you will still receive points & elite credit by booking through this service? I know also some hotels provide free or premium internet if you book direct.
And to use the service where they monitor your reservation do you just email too? Do you need to setup an account first before using that part of the service?
Finally do you know what types of rates this service monitors for? I.e. packages, promotions, etc.?
Hi Mika,
Here is Carlos, one of the founders of TripRebel. About your questions:
1) Loyalty points: we can’t provide loyalty points for the main chains yet, I am sorry. The main reason here is that hotels see us as an third party reseller (which is the case) and rather reserve their points system for clients who book directly. However it never hurts asking the hotel during check-in if they would add the points… many times they do.
2) No need to register. Just send your booking confirmation to deals@triprebel.com
3) We monitor a very broad range of rates… don’t worry, I am very confident that if there is a better deal out there we will find that for you 🙂
Cheers
Carlos
DEALSWELIKE30 doesn’t work.
Sorry, we had a small issue with the coupons… now it is working again.
