Two Day Offer – 75,000 Point Amex Business Gold Card

UPDATE: This promotion has ended.

Today and tomorrow, American Express is upping their credit card offer to 75,000 bonus points for new applicants. This is probably the forth time in the past 12 months that they’ve done a limited time offer like this, which is great. I actually have yet to take advantage, but Mr. Deals did last year. If you missed out on the 100,000 British Airways offer or are looking to increase your Delta balance, this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage. While there are many other partners, these are two of the most common transfer opportunities nowadays. I personally transferred most of my American Express Membership Reward points to my British Airways account a few months ago when they were running a 50% transfer bonus. If they were to do this again, that means the 75,000 points earned through this offer really could result in 112,500 points. Although there is absolutely no guarantee that they will run this lucrative offer again. It has been over a year, I think, for a Delta transfer bonus.

The minimum spend to receive the bonus points is quite high where you must spend $10,000 in the first four months. If you are a high spender, 75k points is a great offer and this is a pretty good card, although I must admit I am favoring the Ultimate Rewards program right now. The fee is waived the first year, but is then $175 which is quite high. This might be a card you get just for the bonus points and then cancel prior to the yearly fee hitting. However, even with yearly fees, I’ve still been able to make money off of Amex with various promotions offering extremely lucrative statement credits. You can see this prior post here on how I’ve been able to make this happen – in just 10 months I’ve received more than $1,000 back in statement credits, making the annual fees well worth it!

Card Perks: I wrote a full review on this card here, but just to re-cap:

  • $175 annual fee waived the first year
  • Triple points on airfare (up to $100,000 of eligible purchases each calendar year, and single points thereafter) – this is the card Mr. Deals and I use for most of our airfare purchases
  • Double points on purchases in the U.S. for advertising in select media, gasoline at U.S. stand-alone stations, and shipping (up to $100,000 of eligible purchases each calendar year, and single points thereafter)
  • Part of the OPEN savings program –  3% off Hyatt, 5% off Marriott (Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites), 5% off FedEx, 5% off at Office Max, 5% off at 1-800-FLOWERS, and 5% off at Barnes & Nobles. You can learn more about the OPEN savings program here.

The terms specifically state: “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product or any other Business Gold, Green or Platinum card account within the last 12 months.” However, if you recently opened the card with no bonus offer, I highly recommend sending a secure message and calling today asking for them to bump the bonus. Explain to them that you are a loyal customer, just applied for the card with no bonus offer, and now today see a better offer out there for 75K. If you have the personal card version of this card, you ARE eligible.

Thanks TPG for sharing this offer so early in the AM!
