August 1 is just around the corner which means the new Marriott/SPG award chart will go into affect. Many hotels are changing the number of points required – some better, some worse. But for the ones that will require more points, you will want to book NOW! Or at least by the end of the month. For those that like to book their points for ski vacations and have a particular hotel in mind, here are some popular ski hotels that you’ll want to look into quickly. Remember, starting August 1st there will just be one award chart representing the number of Marriott points needed. You can transfer your SPG points to Marriott points at a 1:3 ratio.
Vermont
- The Equinox, a Luxury Collection Golf Resort & Spa, Vermont – probably the only resort on the East coast close to a mountain, although still 15+ minutes from skiing. This hotel is going from 12,000 SPG/36,000 Marriott points to 50,000 Marriott points a night.
Colorado
- The Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas, Beaver Creek Mountain – This hotel is going from 12,000 SPG/36,000 Marriott points to 60,000 Marriott points a night.
- Sheraton Lakeside Terrace Villas at Mountain Vista, Avon, Vail Valley -Â This hotel is going from 12,000 SPG/36,000 Marriott points to 50,000 Marriott points a night.
- Sheraton Mountain Vista Villas, Avon / Vail Valley – This hotel is going from 10,000 SPG/30,000 Marriott points to 35,000 Marriott points a night. Although going up in the number of points, you’ll still be able to use one of the 35,000 point free night certificates that comes with many of the Starwood and Marriott credit cards.
- Vail Marriott Mountain Resort – This hotel is going from 45,000 points to 60,000 Marriott points a night.
- Sheraton Lakeside Terrace Villas at Mountain Vista, Avon, Vail Valley -Â This hotel is going from 12,000 SPG/36,000 Marriott points to 50,000 Marriott points a night.

California
- Grand Residences by Marriott, Lake Tahoe - This hotel is going from 40,000 Marriott points to 50,000 Marriott points a night.

- The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth -Â This hotel is going from 12,000 SPG/36,000 Marriott points to 50,000 Marriott points a night.
Canada
- Le Westin Resort & Spa, Tremblant, Quebec -Â an awesome hotel right at Mont. Tremblant. This hotel is going from 12,000 SPG/36,000 Marriott points to 50,000 Marriott points a night.
While there are a few ski resorts that are staying the same or actually decreasing in the number of points (such as Steamboat, Snowmass, Aspen, Deer Valley, Park City Marriott), unfortunately it seems like more of them are increasing in the number of points. If you are looking to take a ski trip this winter, I highly suggest booking now.
Where will you be booking over the next few weeks?

Is there a list some where that shows which hotels are going up or down? Or is that list too big to create?
Marriot has a website that shows which hotels are going up/down and how many points:
