Post #18 compliments of Mr. Deals…
Last week you read about how Mrs. Deals and I planned a little trip for our anniversary down to Barbados (with a potential stay at a Boutique Hotel). No less than 5 minutes after the decision was made that we were going and flights were booked, Mrs. Deals thought it would be appropriate to bring up her usual question of “Where are we going next?”
Now don’t get me wrong, I get just as excited to travel as Mrs. Deals, but sometimes I like to focus on the upcoming trip. I mean, I am still trying to figure out things to do in Barbados for our little trip…I’m always welcome to suggestions from my loyal Sunday readers! Mrs. Deals, on the other hand, is quite a planner. She plans so far in advance that she wants to have the next trips for the remainder of 2012 and potentially 2013 figured out. I’m sorry babe, but Mr. Deals mind just doesn’t work that way. Regardless, because I have to live with her I have to have these discussions (I know, I shouldn’t complain).
So just today we were talking about our next trip. Likely coming later in the year after our Summer of various wedding trips (those don’t count). We’ve been talking about South America, or some exploration in Central America. I figured it would be appropriate to poll my loyal readers. So I ask you all:
Where should Mr. and Mrs. Deals go next? Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. Maybe I can actually be the one planning the next trip! Ya right.
– Central America
– South America
– Europe
– Other…

Being married, you should have known this by now. It doesn’t matter that your wife asked you where to go next, she probably has a place in mind already. Figure out whats on her mind and you will be a happy guy 🙂
South America is a place I avoided for a long time until Delta scrapped flights for a trip we had planned and ticketed to the east coast. So as I was looking for award availability I found available award tickets to Peru with AA. We crammed a lot into a week and had a fantastic adventure. We have since hit the biggies in Argentina for another amazing trip. We are now seriously considering retiring in Ecuador after an exploration trip there last summer.
I’m headed to Peru next month, tough to beat the value flying AA. Booked business class for 60k and will be flying LAN for most of the trip. Booked a 2 day stopover in Miami, a long overnight layover in Lima, 5 days in the Sacred Valley (Machu Picchu), and another 2 day stopover in Mexico City. Tons of availability for award flights… I did a dummy booking afterwards and the flights priced at $10k.
Africa safari?!?!
Oh man, you guys missed out on an awesome Mileage Run type trip that my wife and I are doing… UA B-fare, GRU-ORD (break), ORD-SFO-SYD-AKL-SYD-SFO-ORD, (Break), ORD-GRU… To that, since we had to get a repositioning flight, we’re going down to EZE, then flying to GRU to catch the first segment, then probably to GIG, then to EZE to get home… this trip is spread over 5 months which really makes it 3 trips… Or you could just do Costa Rica — there’s a nice looking Marriott just outside of San Jose, and you could build in a stop-over in Panama, if you take Copa.
Thanks for the update. I really appreciate the efforts you have made for this blog.
@ikonos – Guess I’m still learning 🙂
@John – Argentina is up there on the list – Mrs. Deals has been to Honduras and loved it so we have talked about trying out Ecuador
@Erik – Peru, now on the list…
@Paladin – That mileage run scares me…lets not give Mrs. Deals any ideas now…
@Deals – glad you enjoy!
And Mrs. Deals, I know you want to go to Africa, and all over Europe and South America and everywhere we haven’t been. I’m in for a life full of travel I guess!
