Yesterday I wrote about an awesome promotion with Wyndham Rewards. It requires two stays and you earn 15,000 bonus points. Wyndham has a fixed redemption program where 15,000 points will actually get you a free night at ANY of their properties – even the high end ones! Even if Wyndham Rewards is not your hotel chain of choice, they do have some desirable properties in vacation destinations and popular cities.
Even if you do not have any upcoming travel planned or upcoming travel at a Wyndham property, you can still take advantage of this promotion! This is one of those promotions that is “Mattress Run” worthy. This means you just check into the hotel (and do not actually stay there) purely for the points/status/promotion – in this case it is the promotion. You do not have to even step foot in the room, just need to check in at the front desk and that counts as a stay.
I did some digging and was able to find a Howard Johnson in Orlando for just $31.49. While I do not actually live in Florida as luck might have it, Adam will be down there next week for business so I’ll make him check into the hotel after getting off the plane. Although he doesn’t actually know of this plan yet! Even if I weren’t able to take advantage of the ridiculously low rates in Orlando, I can still find properties nearby my house for about $65/night. So no matter where you live, you should absolutely be able to find some Howard Johnson or Days Inn for less then $70/night – still mattress run worthy for the right redemption! After taxes, this property cost a total of $35. So that means if I am able to complete two stays at this property (fortunately Adam goes to Orlando quite often for work!), that will cost me a grand total of $70 out of pocket. This will then earn me the 15,000 points necessary to stay at any Wyndham property! And while I am not a huge Wyndham fan, there are some properties that I am happy to stay at, especially when it will only cost me $70 for the night! For example, Wyndham has some great options in New York City and we go down there at least a few times a year. To stay for $70/night in New York City is pretty incredible in my book! But my real goal is to stay at the Wyndham Park City! It is at the base of the mountain and also only requires 15,000 points a night! During peak season this property easily goes for over $500/night. To stay here again for only $70 makes a ski trip out west well worth it!
Where have you found some cheap Wyndham properties? And where will you be redeeming your free nights?

I live in Utah and just searched for availability at the Wyndham Park City for several dates in 2018 and there’s no availability on the website. Have you done any research into your plan to stay there?
@TravellerAtoZ – my husband is going there in February and there was award availability. I have not yet looked for next Winter.
It’s hard for me to fathom why Wyndham decided to price award nights at all their properties the same…but I’m not complaining!
Taking advantage of a similar promotion last Fall, I used an award night before the Chicago Seminars at the Wyndham Grand Riverside Chicago (very nice property), after spending a night each at two dreary Knights Inns in Missouri.
I feel certain that Wyndham will change to variable pricing sometime, but in the meantime my wife and I are going all-in on this promotion.
