Wyndham’s No-Show Experiment is Still TBD

Last week I wrote a post stating that I was taking one for the team and and testing a no-show at Wyndham to see if it triggers the bonus points. For those unaware, Wyndham currently has two great promotions going on, although one is targeted:

If eligible, you’ll earn a total of 17,500 points after your 1st stay and a total of 25,000 points after your 2nd stay. Wyndham only requires 15,000 points for a free night, so to get 17,500 points after just 1 stay is pretty awesome. Especially if you can find an incredible cheap property!

My Experience

Last week, I booked an incredibly inexpensive one night stay at a hotel in Orlando. Booked an AAA rate for $35 and I did not check into the hotel. A few days later I checked my Wyndham account and the points posted. Unfortunately though, at this point, the bonus points have not yet posted. The terms state the bonus points will post in 4-6 weeks, although in my experience with promotions in general, they typically post a lot quicker. I am going to give it a few weeks to see if the bonus points post and will report back. a screenshot of a computer

Back in 2012 I took advantage of an even better promotion and no show stays did qualify. The terms, however, state that they will not count. So if they do not post that is in par with their T&C. Although I wasn’t sure if that was actually true in practice.

Even if no-show stays ultimately do not count, you can probably find a hotel for less then $100/night which could still be worth a mattress run. For now I’d hold off booking cheap no-show stays until I report back!

It would be useful as a data point if someone that actually stayed at a Wyndham posted how long it took for their bonus to post so you could have some reference.

I would be curious on that also. I can tell you I had a stay (and did check in) last Monday night and no bonus points yet, Will advise.

My 10/14 stay has not yet credited 7,500. Maybe it has something to do with statement closing on related credit card?

I wasn’t targeted for 10K. Were you looking out for both bonuses?
