As I mentioned a few days ago, today marks “Amazon Prime Day” which is a one-day sale that Amazon has been marketing over the past few weeks. While they are saying that this is better than Black Friday, I still am looking into some of the deals and offers to see if that is truly the case. I think overall, most products are not discounted, but there are a few select deals to be found. I am compiling those deals into a single blog post which will go out in a little bit.

For the time being, however, I wanted to point out a great opportunity to save money with Amazon! Today only, they are offering ALL prime members (it is not targeted) the opportunity to receive a free $10 credit with the purchase of a $45 Amazon gift card. Make sure to use promotion code PRIMEGCS at checkout (and if that doesn’t work use AMAZONGCS)UPDATE: Currently the $45 gift card options are out of stock and I am not sure if they will appear again today. The best offer now is a $75 gift card where you still get the free $10 credit. The $75 gift card pack comes with three $25 gift cards.

Amazon Prime DayThe $45 gift card option is sold as a three pack of $15 on each card which you can either use for yourself for a future purchase or use as gifts. The $10 credit will immediately hit your Amazon.com account which you can then use immediately for a future purchase. The credit will expire on August 29, 2015. One you receive the $45 worth of gift cards in the mail, you can immediately save them to your account to ensure you do not lose them – go to Your Account > Apply a Gift Card to Your Account.

And remember, if you are not currently an Amazon Prime member, you can sign up for a free trial now to take advantage of the savings:

  • Amazon Prime Trial – free 30 day trial
  • Amazon Mom Trial – free 30 day trial
  • Amazon Student Trial – free 6 month trial! (Amazon Student rates are only $49 – all you need is a .edu email address which anyone can set up at a local community college – with this membership you cannot share it with other people)

For those that shop at Amazon often, this is a nice opportunity to essentially get $10 for free to Amazon! And stay tuned for all of the other “Prime Day” deals! You can purchase the $45 gift card here, and remember to add the promotional code PRIMEGCS during checkout!
