You might be lucky and be eligible for a 100,000 point offer for the American Express Platinum card! You’ll have to check your eligibility through the CardMatch™ Tool which will show you individualized pre-qualified credit card offers. You might see credit cards and offers that others do not see and vice versa. There are times when these individualized offers are significantly better then the publicly available offers being advertised. When you put your information into CardMatch, there is no hard pull so it will not affect your credit card (just a soft pull). If you decide to apply for one of the cards, that is when you’ll see a hard pull. To see all offers available to you, make sure to check the “Pre-Qualified” or “CardMatch Special Offers” box.
Via Doctor of Credit, it looks like many people are able to see an increased 100,000 point offer for the American Express Platinum credit card. I am able to see the offer when I enter my husbands information and a few other family members, so the offers seems to be pretty available. While I cannot see this offer when I enter my info, I’ve had this card before so that could be why. This is a phenomenal offer in my opinion and you’ll rarely (if ever) see a better offer. Not only that, a publicly available 100,000 point offer doesn’t come around too often either. If eligible (remember, offers may not be available to everyone), you’ll earn 100,000 Membership Rewards® points after you use your new Card to make $5,000 in purchases in your first 3 months. If you see the offer, this is a card I definitely recommend considering.
While this card does come with a $550 annual fee (yikes!), there are some great benefits to the card. Here is a detailed post evaluating whether or not the annual fee is worth it, but many will find that the $200 Uber credits plus the $200 airline fee credits you receive on a yearly basis helps offset the annual fee to make it absolutely worth it. And a relatively new benefit will give you a $100 statement credit at Saks Fifth Avenue. Definitely an added perk if you were going to get the card anyways. You’ll also receive complimentary Global Entry which is worth $100. Ongoing benefits include Marriott Gold status, Hilton Gold status, complimentary access to select airport lounges, Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits, etc. And then just in you first year as a card member you’ll receive the 100,000 bonus points (upon meeting the minimum spend).
Do you see the 100,000 point offer through CardMatch™ Took?

I have the Amex deal – but is it risky to have too many credit cards ?
How does that affect your credit score?
@Meera – Applying for credit cards only affects your score slightly, but then it goes back up – just have to make sure to pay your bills on time and in full.
Although we have excellent credit and never had the AMEX platinum before, my husband and I did not get this 100,000 point targeted offer when we checked. Would it help to call AMEX and ask for the deal, or is that a waste of time? And thank you for your excellent information and keeping us up-to-date on what’s out there. It’s mind boggling at times, to be sure.
@Gianna – Thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately, calling won’t help. Sometimes there’s no rhyme or reason why one person is targeted and another is not 🙁
Darn, I’m so upset with AMEX. Here we are, with them for well over 10 years with three cards, always paying our balance on time, and they won’t offer the 100,000 point bonus to us for upgrade to Platinum! I called and they said the “marketing department” handles who gets targeted. Huh?
I heard a Twitter post sometimes gets a response. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Many thanks! Gianna
@Gianna – Unfortunately there are various reasons why folks are targeted. Some times it might be folks with just a certain card in their portfolio. Or it might be people who have no Amex cards. It is true that the marketing team determines what subset is targeted for specific promotions. They do various targeting throughout the year so maybe in a few months. Fingers crossed.
You are so nice to get back to me. Thanks so much! LOVE your site.
@Gianna – Anytime!
