Even since I learned about the Sam’s Club Scan & Go app, I’ve found myself shopping at Sam’s Club way more. The app basically serves as your cashier and allows you to shop and checkout without having to wait in line.

1. There is absolutely no waiting in line!

When your shopping is complete, there is no waiting in line at the checkout counter. While you are still in the store, you simply pay from your phone. The receipt will appear on the app which you show to the Sam’s Club associate when leaving the store (as you normally would do with a paper receipt). This is the best invention even when shopping with kids who are yelling in your ear “how many more minutes!”

2. It is extremely easy to use

Downloading the app takes just a few minutes and is very simple to use at the store. First off, you can download the free Scan & Go app for both Android and iPhones. You’ll then have to set up the app with your Sam’s Club information. While shopping at the store, you use the app to scan the products UPC codes that you add to your shopping cart.

3. It allows you to budget

While you add items to your cart, it gives you a running total. This helps from a budgeting stand point and you can remove items if you are going a little overboard!

4. All receipts are saved

All your receipts are saved in your account on the app. You do not have to worry about keeping paper receipts to track against your credit card bill. Also, if you typically submit receipts for reimbursement, this will allow you to easily keep track of all receipts. It also helps you with your yearly budgeting if you want to know what you typically spend your money on.

5. Clearance items appear with the discounted price

Many times Sam’s Clubs marks down seasonal or holiday items once the season or holiday has passed. Unfortunately though, typically they aren’t marked on the sign so you do not really know until it goes through the checkout scanner. With the Scan & Go app it will give you the price right away, so if an item is on clearance you’ll know immediately.

Overall…

This is a great app and I’d love to see other large grocery stores adopt similar practice! You can download the free Scan & Go app here: Android and iPhones

All good points but you cannot use a sams club GC with the scan and go app.

The concept is great, the app is great and all works except when you get to the exit. The person scanning your device often is not trained and you wait… for someone else, the scan gun needs batteries….you wait. The scan gun does not work…you wait. I have given up

Can you check out the MasterCard gift cards with the app?

I’ve used it 21 times. 17 of those, it costs me more time and frustration, trying to get out the door. Either the employee didn’t have a scanner, it didn’t work, or they didn’t know how to use it. One time, I literally waited 19 minutes, going through 3 different employees. Needless to say, I quit using it. In case anyone from Sam’s cares, it’s the Pearland, Texas store.

“There is absolutely no waiting in line” unless (probably) you are purchasing alcohol.

Used it 3x…all very simple and exit wAs just as quick as with paper receipt. Now I can do a quick shop and not worry about a 15 minute checkout line.

I’m old school and REQUIRE a print receipt which scan&go doesn’t allow. All they have to do is add a printer to the scanner device at exit checkout, when the exit door clerk scans your phone with the bar code all you need is an optional checkbox under the barcode asking for a printed receipt.
I tried the app several times and the exit door is now the bottleneck.
using the self serve checkout station is the best alternative for me.
who wants to walk around holding their phone while picking and choosing items for your shopping cart???
