A really good Amex Offer just came out this morning where you can receive a $50 statement credit on a $200 or more purchase at Rocketmiles (a hotel reservation site – read more below to learn more). Ultimately a $200 hotel reservation (which can include tax), will only cost you $150. Unfortunately though, I do not believe you can use multiple credit cards per reservation and do not see an option to purchase gift cards. The sweet spot here is a $200 reservation on the dot. The good thing though, is that you’ll earn miles based on a $200 stay, not a $150 stay. So you’ll be saving money and earning more miles. The twitter hashtag is #AmexRocketmiles
What is Rocketmiles?
Rocketmiles is a third-party hotel reservation site were you earn airline miles for your stay. While they do not have every hotel on their site, if you are able to book through them, you can earn thousands of airline miles. The one caveat is that since you are booking your hotel stay through a third-party site typically you will not earn hotel points (although sometimes it slips through the cracks and you will – this is the case when booking through all third-party hotel sites).
Hotel rates are the same as the best available rate if you were to book directly with the hotel. However, this dosen’t account for other discounts – AAA, Corporate Rates, Specials, etc. So ALWAYS ensure that you are getting the best rate possible. And also calculate out what you’d prefer – the airline miles or the hotel points.
You can sign up for Rocketmiles here and earn 1,000 miles as a signup bonus after completing your first reservation. This is my referral link, but feel free to paste yours in the comments section.
To enroll in this offer:
- Sync your American Express credit card to Twitter (you can do that here). If you are not sure which card is currently synced with your account, you can unsync and then re-sync. Tweet #AmexRocketmiles
- or, Sign into your AmericanExpress.com account and go to the “Amex Offers For You” tab. Find the Rocketmiles offer and make sure to select the “Save Offer” button (although once you do this for one card the option will disappear on other cards, so you’ll need to set up a Twitter account to save the offer to the rest of your Amex cards or read this post to learn how to sync multiple Amex cards with your AmericanExpress.com account)
