Over the past few years, one of the more lucrative ways I’ve earned free money and points is by buying coins from the US Mint. This is not the same method that many people took part in years ago where they’d purchase coins from the US Mint on their credit card and deposit them to their local bank. Instead, this is through PFS Buyers Club. I have listed out all of the details below, but ultimately, the coin cost $5,055 and you’ll be reimbursed for the cost, plus shipping, plus an extra $200 in profit.

A few times a year I receive an email from PFS Buyers Club letting me know that the US Mint will be releasing some limited edition coins. If you are able to purchase them, PFS will essentially buy the coins back from you and pay you a premium. Not only that, you can purchase the coins from the US Mint with a credit card and PFS sends you a check. That means you are also earning free credit card points for the purchase and it is a great way to meet minimum spend!

Opt in for the PFS coin deal here

PFS also makes the transaction extremely seamless. Once you purchase the coins, you will put your order information on the PFS site and they send you a prepaid shipping label. Once the coins arrive on your doorstep, you attach the shipping label to the box, and drop it off at FedEx within 2 business days. Once PFS receives the coins, they will send you a check in just 7 business days. It is really an easy way to make some money for not a lot of time spent.

A new deal coming tomorrow

On Thursday July 29, 2021, the US Mint will be releasing the American Eagle 2021 Gold Proof Four-Coin Set. This coin costs $5,055 (plus $4.95 for shipping). PFS will pay you back $5,259.95 for a profit of $200.

In addition to making money on this deal, you’ll also earn points based on the credit card you use for the purchase. I suggest using a card where you need to meet minimum spend, or one where you earn some extra benefit for meeting a certain spend threshold (i.e., free night hotel certificate, Southwest companion pass, hotel status, etc.). For example, if you use the Chase Freedom Unlimited you’ll earn 1.5x points for this purchasing — so approximately 5,060 Chase Ultimate Reward points. I value that to be approximately $100 in value towards travel. And that is in addition to the profit.

Things to know

I’ve taken advantage of these offers MANY times. I’ve never once had an issue and found the process to be beyond easy. With that being said, it is important to follow the directions of the deal exactly as stated. As long as you follow the directions, you’ll be good to go. It really is a simple process, I promise! But if you are risk adverse, this deal is probably not for you.

To be eligible to purchase the coins and have them bought back, you must register for the offer in advance. If you do not register and receive an approval confirmation email you will not be reimbursed. Registration fills up fast, so make sure to register NOW!

The coins go on sale at noon ET on July 29th, so make sure to purchase the coins at that time on the dot. You’ll then need to input your purchase information on their website by 1pm ET. You can create a PFS account and register for this offer here. You’ll also want to create an account with the US Mint in advance, which you can do here. (Note: When the coin arrives at your house, PFS asks that you do not open the box).

NOTE: ONLY REGISTER AND OPT IN FOR THIS DEAL IF YOU ABSOLUTELY ARE 100% COMMITTED TO FULFILLING THE DEAL, REGARDLESS OF THE VALUE OF THE COINS (SOMETIMES THEY ARE VALUED HIGHER OR LOWER FROM THE PAYMENT PRICE). PFS ALWAYS PAYS AND ONTIME.

Overall…

This is a great money-making offer, as well as a great opportunity to earn points and miles. I will personally be taking advantage of this offer, but you must do what you feel comfortable with. In no way am I telling you to do this or taking responsibility for a large process.

So register now (if you are comfortable with this promotion) and set your alarm to 11:55am ET on July 29th, 2021.

This seemed like a great idea, until I read the legal contract. The indemnity clause basically says you take all the risk, and can’t hold them responsible or get reimbursed if the coin is lost in the mail for example. At least I think I’m reading that correctly. Seems like a lot of risk for only a $50 profit and some points.

Do the recent changes to American Express purchases of “cash or cash equivalents” mean this would show as a cash advance if we use an Amex card to participate in this offer?

I got both coins and decided to use my Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Figured I’d play it safe. I used an Amex EveryDay card at 2 points/$ for the Palladium offer and had no problems but that was in September before the change in terms.

Is insurance included in their shipping label? What if coins are lost in transport to them?
