Post #21 compliments of Mr. Deals…

A full two weeks. That’s how long Mrs. Deals and I were away from each other before crossing paths in JFK on Friday. It almost didn’t happen too. She was about 10 minutes too late from catching an earlier connection flight to Boston for her friend’s bachelorette weekend. Had we not run into one another, I would’ve been without an overseas electrical adapter…I mean it would’ve been almost 3 weeks of not seeing each other!

Well luckily we got to see each other and spend a couple quality hours in the Admirals Club at JFK (very romantic). The interesting thing is that in the American Airlines terminal in JFK there are two Admirals Clubs. Since I was on a free day pass thanks to Mrs. Deals excursion on the MegaDo, I decided to check them both out after we went our separate ways. Let me just give a word of advice. The one near gates 1-12 is way nicer than the one outside gate 42, way nicer!

Anyway, so after I split from Mrs. Deals and explored the Admirals Club near my gate (the nicer one at 1-12), it was time for me to make way to Switzerland via a stopover in London’s Heathrow. I get to the gate and hear an announcement that the flight is oversold. I think to myself, ‘what would Mrs. Deals do in this situation?’ Within seconds I am the first one up to the counter to find out what they are offering. $800 in vouchers and rebooking on a flight 2 hours later, sign me up! So I show them my ticket and they see I have a layover in LHR and tell me its best to maybe not do it as they can’t book me on another flight to Switzerland. I was willing to take my chances, since I had a 4-hour layover, but they weren’t keen on it at all.

Unfortunately I have to hop on the flight, one full of a high school trip with a group of about 40 kids trying to switch around their seats so they can hang out with each other. Not so sweet. I get to my seat and notice that the woman that tried to take the bump right after I volunteered just walks on to the plane. I make eye contact and ask her what happened to the $800 voucher. Turns out they messed up counting all the high school kids and there were enough seats for everyone. Bummer.

Hey Mrs. Deals, at least I tried right?!

Bummer x2. That $800 certificate would ahve come in quite handy and I’m sure that Mrs. Deal would approve. Not sure, but I don’t t hink I’ve ever seen a spouse valued in terms of an overseas electrical adapter, but that’s your business .
