American Airlines just announced an amazing bonus for those flying Business or First class in 2015. This promotion is available for everyone and will last the entire calendar year! In addition to the base miles, the class of service miles, and the bonus elite status miles earned, you can also earn additional bonus miles which will be based on your fare class, elite status, and length of flight.
The chart above explains the bonus miles, but essentially you can earn anywhere between 250 and 12,000 miles on every single flight you take if booked in business or first class. A long flight includes all flights 3,000 or more miles as well as JFK to San Francisco (SFO) and JFK to Los Angeles (LAX). A short/medium flight are flights less than 3,000 miles.
Chances are those booking paid business or first class flights have some sort of status so that will enable you to earn more miles. Let’s say you are a Platinum member booked in a regular business class seat (not a discounted business class fare) and flying from New York to London. This flight is over 3,000 miles so you will earn an additional 6,000 bonus miles.
I personally will most likely not earn any bonus miles as I am no longer flying on a companies dime and paying for business class flights is not something I will ever do! Maybe if there is some mistake fare in 2015, but for right now, this promotion is not catered to me! Hopefully there will be some promotion for those flying in coach!
