Up until this point, the only way you’d back to book Hyatt’s Points + Cash hotel reservations was by calling Hyatt directly. There was absolutely no way for them to check them online, until now. Now, when searching Hyatt’s website, you’ll see two “Hyatt Gold Passport Points & Awards” options: 1) Redeem Points and 2) Points + Cash.
Keep in mind though that Points + Cash awards are not always available. They are capacity controlled and a hotel is allowed to block the availability, unfortunately. So even if a regular point reservation is available, this does not mean that a Points + Cash reservation will appear.
Points + Cash has a fixed redemption and is best for category 2-6 hotels. Ultimately, if a Points + Cash reservation is available for those category, definitely book those instead of full points! For category 1 and 7 hotels, it really depends on how you typically redeem your points – they both require you to purchase the “cash” portion at 2 cents per point.
Aside from the great value, another benefit is that Points + Cash reservations count towards status, allow you to earn bonus points if there is a promotion going on, and allow you to use your suite upgrades if you have. With full point reservations, those benefits are not given.
Overall, I am very excited that this redemption option is available online. Having to call constantly about availability is quite annoying, so this will definitely save you some time.
