Can I Get a Bump in Bonus with the New Chase Ink Offers?

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

This is part of the reader question series that I started earlier this year – you can view more reader questions here. Feel free to email me at dealswelike@gmail.com if you have a question you’d like answered in a full on post.

Reader Joel recently commented on a blog post asking:

“Suppose I only JUST received a new Ink card in the mail YESTERDAY after signing up for the 50k bonus. Any chance I can get that extra 10k thrown in somehow?”

Last week Chase announced that they were increasing their Chase Ink credit card offers for a limited time. While an increased offer is great for most, it is definitely annoying for those that just recently applied under the old offer.

Fortunately though, Chase is typically pretty good at matching current offers as long as you applied within the past 90 days. So, if you were one that applied for the Chase Ink Bold or Chase Ink Plus with the previous 50,000 point offer or the Chase Ink Cash with the previous 30,000 point offer, I highly suggest requesting for the additional 10,000 points. This offer has expired.

To do this: Sign into your Chase account and in the upper right-hand corner of your screen you will see a link that says “Secure Message Center”. A blue drop-down box will appear and click “Send new message”.

In the pop-up screen that appears, click the “Select topic…” drop-down menu from the “My Business Accounts” – “Credit Card” section and select “Rewards Inquiry”. Click “GO”.

In the new pop-up window, fill out the form with the account number for the Chase Ink card, and select “Ultimate Rewards Program Inquiry” from the topic option. In the message area, you can include the following message: “To Whom It May Concern: I recently applied for the Chase Ink [insert the name of the card] card with the 50,000 point offer [or 30,000 point offer if it is for the Classic card] after meeting the minimum spend requirement, however, I now see that there is a better offer available for 60,000 points. Since I just applied, I am hoping you can give me the better offer once a meet the minimum spend requirements […or if you’ve already hit the minimum spend, you can just ask for the 10,000 points to be deposited to your account]. Here is the link for this increased offer [include offer link].

I have not yet heard of anyone getting denied of this increased offer if they just recently applied, so I highly suggest asking. It never hurts! They should get back to you pretty quickly too.

I personally value the 10,000 extra bonus points at around $200, so that is a great surprise for those who recently applied!

Let me know of your success!

Just completed my spend and received my bonus URs in April. Wrote a short note via “Secured Message” and received 10,000 points immediately–they posted in less than 24 hours.

Thanks! I was approved for the Chase Ink Plus in March 2014 with a 50,000 point bonus and have not yet completed the minimum spend requirement. I sent a secure message and within a few hours I received a response indicating that as soon as I complete the minimum spend requirement I will be eligible for an additional 10,000 points.

I was approved for the Ink Plus in March under the 50,000 point offer and hit the minimum spend requirement in April. Saw this article today and decided to try appealing for the higher offer. I had the extra 10,000 points in less than 2 hours. Thanks a TON!

Hi! I wrote to Chase to ask for the bump, and was denied. Their reply was, “…we at Chase will always consider allowing the newest promotion to be applied to any qualified accounts that were opened within the previous 90 days of the offer…” He continued that the date my account was opened does not fall within this 90 day time frame.

When was the 60,000 promotion first advertised? I was approved for my card mid February, and I believe I applied the very beginning of February, so I think I may indeed fit into the 90 days.

If this is the case, any suggestions about how to appeal the first decision, or is this something that is incontestable? Thanks in advance for your help!

@Kevin – I believe it is 90 days prior to you contacting them. So even though the offer was introduced at the beginning of May, the 90 days is from today (or whenever you contacted them). With that being said, I would still write back stating that within 90 days after you applied the offer went up to 60,000 bonus points after meeting the minimum spend requirement (May 1, 2014). I’d also inquire and ask the exact date they have on file for when your account was opened.
