UPDATE: This offer has ended. You can learn about the current offer for these three cards here.
Many questions have come up about the limited time increased offer of the Chase Ink credit cards. This includes a 10,000 increase in bonus for these three cards:
- Chase Ink Bold – 60,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months
- Chase Ink Plus – 60,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months
- Chase Ink Cash – 30,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months
Question 1: How long will this “limited time” offer last?
Answer 1: Word on the street is that this offer will last through June 1, 2014. Last year this offer lasted a little less then 2 weeks so I am glad to see that it will be about a month time frame this year.
Question 2: If I just applied for this offer with the lower bonus, can I get matched to the higher bonus?
Answer 2: Yes! If you’ve applied in the past 103 days, send Chase a secure message letting them know there is now a better offer and ask them to match the increased bonus offer. You can read more about how to do this here.
Question 3: Can I apply for the Chase Ink Bold and Chase Ink Plus?
Answer 3: Yes! Since they are different products, you are able to apply and get the sign up bonus for each of the cards as long as you are approved.
Question 4: If I already have the Visa Chase Ink Bold, can I apply again?
Answer 4: People have reported being able to get the Chase Ink Bold (or Chase Ink Plus or Chase Ink Classic card) twice, one for each business that have EINs.
Question 5: If I have the Mastercard version of the Bold, Plus, or Classic, can I apply for the Visa version?
Answer 5: Yes! Folks have reported success getting the sign up bonus for the Visa card even though they had the Mastercard version. I have not personally done it yes, but will be applying this week so can report back. The Visa card does come with different benefits (such as the Visa Savings Edge program), so it is very possible you’d prefer those benefits instead of the Mastercard version. There is a good chance this will require a call to the reconsideration line, so you will need to explain that you are applying for a new card so you can get the benefits that come with the Visa card. You also might need to explain that you want to separate business expenses. You can read more in this post.
Question 6: Do I have a better chance of getting approved for the Chase Ink Bold over the Chase Ink Plus or vice versa?
Answer 6: While the benefits of the card are very similar, there is one main difference of these two cards: the Chase Ink Bold is a charge card, where the Chase Ink Plus is a credit card. My understanding is that you really have the same chances of being approved for both cards. Now, if you already have many active cards with Chase, the Chase Ink Plus card might be slightly easier. Since the Ink Plus is a credit card, you might be able to shift some lines of credit with another open card to this card and thus potentially help the approval process.
Question 7: Since these are business credit cards, do I need a Tax ID for the business to apply?
Answer 7: With all Chase applications you can use your Social Security number if you do not have an EIN (Employer Identification Number). Your business also does not need to be registered and you are allowed to apply as a sole proprietorship. So for example, if you are looking to start an eBay business, a blog, etc. you can still apply and use your personal SS#. Feel free to email me with any questions about this.
Question 8: When this limited time bonus is over, what will the offer be?
Answer 8: While I cannot say for sure, the typical bonus is 50,000 points after meeting the same spend requirement of $5,000 within the first three months. So this current offer is 10,000 points more then the regular bonus or a 20% increase. Since I value my points at 2 cents per point (on the conservative side), I value this increase at a $200 bonus on top of the normal offer. For those that like to redeem through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal and get the fixed 1.25 cents per point, then this is a $125 increase.
Question 9: I’ve applied for the card, but the decision is still pending, will I still get the same bonus if I am not approved until after offer expiration date?
Answer 9: As long as you apply by the expiration date you are all set, it does not matter when you are actually approved. Because this is a very popular offer right now and some times business cards take longer in the approval process, it is normal for your offer to be in a pending state.
Question 10: When will this 60,000 point limited time offer be available again?
Answer 10: That is an question only Chase knows the answer to, and most likely they haven’t actually thought about it just yet. Chances are we will not see this offer for another year, although I’d love to see it come more often. The last time this offer was available was a year ago.
