Over the past few years, one of the more lucrative ways I’ve earned free money and points is by buying coins from the US Mint. This is not the same method that many people took part in years ago where they’d purchase coins from the US Mint on their credit card and deposit them to their local bank. Instead, this is through PFS Buyers Club.
A few times a year I receive an email from PFS Buyers Club letting me know that the US Mint will be releasing some limited edition coins. If you are able to purchase them, PFS will essentially buy the coins back from you and pay you a premium. Not only that, you can purchase the coins from the US Mint with a credit card and PFS sends you a check. That means you are also earning free credit card points for the purchase and it is a great way to meet minimum spend! PFS also makes the transaction extremely seamless. Once you purchase the coins, you will put your order information on the PFS site and they send you a prepaid shipping label. Once the coins arrive on your doorstep, you attach the shipping label to the box, and drop it off at FedEx within 2 business days. Once PFS receives the coins, they will send you a check in just 7 business days. It is really an easy way to make some money for not a lot of time spent.
A New Deal Coming This Week!
On Thursday September 6, 2018 the US Mint will be releasing a limited edition Palladium Proof coin. The purchase is limited to 1 per household. Each medal will cost $1,387.50 and after the standard shipping of $4.95, your total order will be $1,392.45. There is a chance the cost will be $50 more or less (the final price will be known Wednesday), but you’ll still earn the same profit.
PFS will pay you $1,443.00 for for the coin (or $50 more or less depending on the final price). This means you will profit $50.55. You’ll also earn points based on the credit card you use for the purchase. I suggest using a card where you need to meet minimum spend, or one where you earn some extra benefit for meeting a certain spend threshold (i.e., free night hotel certificate, Southwest companion pass, etc.).
Things to Know
I’ve taken advantage of these offers MANY times. I’ve never once had an issue and found the process to be beyond easy. With that being said, it is important to follow the directions of the deal exactly as stated. If it states to purchase X number of coins, make sure to purchase that exact number. So in this case, just 1. If it tells you to purchase all the coins in one order, make sure to do that – although for this order, you are only purchasing 1. If it tells you to NOT open the box of coins when you receive them at your house, do not open the box! As long as you follow the directions, you’ll be good to go. It really is a simple process, I promise!

If you do not register and receive an approval confirmation email you will not be reimbursed. Registration fills up fast, so make sure to register NOW! The coins go on sale at noon ET, so make sure to purchase the coins at that time on the dot. When you say “make sure to buy them exactly at noon”, which clock are you going by? There might be a variance sometimes.
What browser do you use to do this? I was able to get it added on 4 different browsers across 3 different devices and 2 different networks and not a single one could check out. Chrome on PC #1 could not enter a credit card CVV number (click in the field, unable to enter numbers) and Edge on PC #2, IE on PC #2, and Safari (ipad) were unable to get past a grey background popup (that contained no text or buttons)when moving to the order review screen. Unbelievably frustrating.
@Jeff – I am so sorry it didn’t work for you. I used Google Chrome. Had no issues at all. I wonder if it was because you were signed into your account on multiple browsers/devices?
